Anyone else have their CCP application returned for something asinine?

Nope, mine went smooth as butter. But the asinine part is that we have to jump through hoops and get a permit to exercise a constitutional right:rolleyes:

Which of These Two Ruger Mark IIIs Would You Choose?

I have the 5.5" bull barrel and I love it. It balances very well in my hands, and it's a tack driver. That being said I have never handled the 6 7/8" barrel model. You wont be disappointed with either.

    Dirty Harry today?

Prosser wins! There's no way Harry would trust the internal lock :)

    List your state

Maine guy here. Direct quote from our state's constitution: "Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned." Shall issue, open carry without a permit, no 4473 form with sales among private citizens, no dumb waiting periods or one gun per month...

Which Light Weight Revolver Would You Choose Poll?

+1 for the Colt Cobra. Mine is extremely accurate considering it's purpose, and has a sweet trigger pull. It holds 1 more round than a j-frame or an LCR. Plus it's a Colt ;) Second choice would be a pre-lock j-frame.

    Missing Federal Ammo

Same thing happened to me a while back with Winchester white box ammo. The styrofoam cartridge holder inside the box was deformed which must have prevented the ammo from loading it in in the factory. I, like you, e-mailed them and they called me in a few days. They ended up mailing me a $20...

    Colt Agent Value ?

I bought my 1974 blue finished Cobra (same gun as the Agent with different length grips) with moderate holster wear for $425 early this summer. Anywhere between $400 and $500 would be reasonable depending on your area and market.

Selling gun in another state's gun show

See CoRoMo's post. You can purchase a gun at the show, however, the seller (private or FFL) has to ship the gun to a FFL of your choice in Florida, where you will then fill out a 4473 form, pay the transfer fee, and then take possession of the gun. You can also sell a gun at the show, if a FFL...

    Ruger or Browning?

If you plan on making modifications to the gun, get the Ruger. If you don't plan on making modifications, still get the Ruger :) Taking it apart isn't nearly as bad as folks make it out to be. I can break mine down and put it back together in <1 minute. No biggie....

    Ruger Mk III

I have the same gun and I love it. It's an absolute tack driver. I had some extraction issues when I first got it. Turns out a lot of folks have trouble with extraction/ejection because of the loaded chamber indicator. I removed the metal tab effectively disabling the LCI, and it has been very...

What is the most unreliable semi auto you have shot ?

Worst was my Ruger Mark III. Had at least 2 or 3 stovepipes per magazine. That was until I disabled the loaded chamber indicator. Now it is as reliable as any .22 auto can be. On the rare occasion of a jam (maybe 1 every 500 rounds or so) I now blame it on the ammo. If anyone is having...

    Specialty & AP pistol cartridges

Very cool stuff dreadnight! I'm curious about the legal implications of collecting this ammo. I thought it was illegal to own armor piercing ammo etc. Please school me!

Any reason to not get a Ruger SP101 ?

As others have said it's an all around excellent weapon. It's tough as nails, accurate, reliable, and small enough to carry while being heavy enough to comfortably shoot magnum loads on a regular basis. I love my 3" model, and the price you quoted is quite reasonable. You asked for some...

she's got brass... not sure about brains.

This store is less than 10 miles from my house and I've been in there a few times :uhoh: Glad it worked out well for her, but I'd rather call his bluff with a weapon of my own....

    So I got my Python...

And all I got for my College graduation was a stinking Ruger SP101! Well, actually I love my SP101, but that is one beautiful piece! Congratulations on you're graduation, and being the proud new owner of that beautiful piece of American craftsmanship.

Two cops go gaga over my Smith 10-8!

It's nice running in to like minded folks, cops or not. I had a similar experience a few months ago. I got pulled over because my headlight was out. I handed the officer my license and concealed weapon permit. The exchange went something like this: Officer: "Are you armed?" Me: "Yes" Officer...
