    Littleton Co Craigslist home invasion

Sam, I frankly don't care what you think, regardless of here at THR and all. You can tow a line and do so. We here, many of us, feel differently than you. You don't speak for many here. Shall I suggest others react towards somebody who tied me up, threatened my family, made off with our...

    Littleton Co Craigslist home invasion

It isn't politic here, but frankly, I think a man should have the right to shoot people fleeing with his property. Fleeing with nothing, no. But after terrorizing me and my family, robbing us, and making off with our car after a good faith business invitation, I would probably have shot, too...

    CHEAP Hi end Binoculars

The Cornell College of Ornithology puts out a list of binoculars and their rankings. It isn't every year, but it's a good list. Bird watchers are an ideal group to get advice from as their binocular use is more intense than most others. Taliv is right about the small increases in performance...

    SACM 1935A --Surprisingly Compelling

The biggest reason French arms never caught on outside of France is because they were never sold commercially outside of France and because of their non-standard ammo.

    what is this? Pic heavy

I think it is far more recent a sporter job. It looks like one of the Czech-made K98k's with winter trigger guard made post war out of parts on hand. These were imported in the 1990's and into the 2000's by SAMCO or some other importer. Of course, it could still be a 1960's sporter job, but...

    CHEAP Hi end Binoculars

What ever. I contacted Burris when I bought the two Signature Selects I have - their top-of-the-line binoculars at the time - about how the warranty worked, they told me that if either binocular needed to be replaced under warranty, it would be replaced by an equivalent Steiner because, as the...

    CHEAP Hi end Binoculars

I'm a big fan of Nikon Monarchs. I also have Burris Signature Select, but they don't make those now that Burris owns Steiner. I have a pair of Swarovski's and they are outstanding, but I never feel bad about using the Monarchs on the water (don't want to lose the Swaro).

    AK-47

"To put a timely end to this digression I'll have to second Kame B.'s statement: I like both." I agree. I have owned a number of AK's, from milled Bulgarian SA-93 & SLR-95 and Norinco National Match Mak-90, to stamped WASR's of several flavors. They all worked fine. I don't have any of them...

Do paper towels such as Bounty scratch gun finishes?

Ambient humidity affects all porous materials. Hydrophilic materials - particularly cotton, linen, paper, rayon (such as in bandages), absorb moisture from the air. They will not become more moist than the ambient humidity, however. If the air in your home is 12%, then given time, all porous...

    Odd Bannerman Nagant

Actually, Nagant himself did not contribute at all. His rifle was rejected. Mosin's design called for a tubular magazine in the butt, which was also discarded. The Russians took some ideas, mainly the interrupter, and incorporated them into Mosin's design. However, they never used Nagant's...

    Odd Bannerman Nagant

That's a Sestrorysk rifle (which was being run by Mosin himself at the time). If you'll post some photographs we can help you even further. At that price, you did fine no matter what.

    Favorite shotgun?

I love my Savage 720 in 12ga.. It does great with rabbits, coons, or other critters that size. But, I use my Mossberg 500 more since it works great with steel shot.

    Clean, Fouled, or Filthy?

"Equating those needs to cleaning your firearm indicates that you do not understand firearms very well, and/or that you are not interested in making or able to make clear comparison and contrast assessments of dissimilar concepts." Kind of harsh, isn't it? Seems like a step away from a flame.

What is the future of revolvers?

As one who transitioned from a high capacity 9mm (CZ-75) to a low-capacity .357 revolver (Ruger Police Service Six), I am struck as to why we even bother having a revolver section on this forum. Frankly, it seems no real reason. The mods on this forum firmly seek to cast their wisdom upon us...

    A challenge for the president

That's the wrong side unfortunately. There's only 348 signatures. We need more than 99,000 more. I don't know why, but I don't really trust putting my information on the president's website in association with this. It seems like a quick check-list. Yeah, probably paranoid, but... Well...

    30-30 guns besides lever?

The most prolific is the Stevens 340. I had one. It was a no frills rifle but I liked it.

    New respect for 5.56

I've faced a feral bull once, a big old monster who came through my camp once. We were near the Mississippi River and had to back off into the water and just wait until he left. I had a .357mag revolver and wasn't in the mood to tangle. I sat for perhaps 20 minutes in a kayak while the bull...
