Good deals are still out there - Marlin 336 Texan

It's worth it to keep an eye open for deals. Today, I just walked out the door of a local pawn shop with a 1976 pre-safety Marlin 336 Texan straight stock in 30-30, something I had been looking for lately. No photos at the moment, but she's in excellent condition. The only problem is that...

    CZ Sniper

Here's another CZ sniper, the VZ 54/91 sniper issued to Czech boarder guards in the 1990's. Based on the Mosin action, it uses a Soviet PSO-1 sniper scope with IR detector. Has the adjustable stock and butt pad used on others of the period (and many today) but uses the walnut stock - which is...

Lawman Mk III vs Colt .357?

I have a chance to get a Colt Lawman Mk III in Nickel or a Colt .357 in blue for $50 less. Both are in equal condition. I own a Trooper Mk III so I am familiar with the Mk III lockwork. I also know the .357 was supposed to be Colt's top-end revolver, over the original Trooper, and with the...

    What ever happend to Interarms?

The Star discussion got me thinking about Interarms. They imported so many great arms: the Yugoslavian Mausers as well as Astra and Star pistols among others. I know they went under and others picked up their products, but what exactly happened to cause Interarms to actually go under?

Difference between Lapua (SK) Rifle Match and Pistol Match 22lr?

I have searched and searched and found nothing that directly answered the question, so I figure I'd ask. What is the difference between the Sk (Lapua) branded Rifle Match 22lr and the Pistol Match 22lr? I know it is fundamentally the same ammo as Wolf Gold 22lr, but don't know the difference...

Response from Congressman Steven Palazzo re Gun Ban

Friends, I have heard from many of you regarding the gun control proposals the Obama administration is pushing. As an American and citizen soldier, I am a tireless supporter of Second Amendment rights and the protection for individuals to keep and bear arms. The requests the president made...

Gun owners and the pocket book - our advantage.

Eh, never mind. Forget I mentioned it.

Another Swiss pistol for the stable

In addition to a Swiss-made CZ-75, ASAI One Pro (designed to compete in the SOCOM pistol trials) and an original model AT-84, I just picked up an AT-84s. All four pistols are based on the CZ-75 (or in the case of one, IS a CZ-75). The Swiss really like the design.

    High Power conterfeit

I was in a shop on the coast and they have a High Power counterfeit, I believe, by FEG. The serial number is wrong (G and 5 numbers) but it is marked with the FN markings. What would something like this be worth?

How to tell if SA 1911 is US or not?

I have found a Springfield m1911a1 for $400. It looks to be in excellent condition - parked with military basic features other than three-dot sights. The frame does not have Imbel stamped on the dust cover bottom just before the muzzle as I have seen in the past. Is this US-made? Can you...

Stamped, spiked, SKS - gotta like it.

Okay, I know folks have their opinions on arms - I certainly do - but I have come to the conclusion that the very best, most useable SKS made, is the least-loved Chinese spike. Heck, let it have a pinned barrel (seems to work fine on AK's and other arms). Trigger housing stamped? Works fine on...

    M9 and US Service Pistols

I'm not a Beretta fan (I like my CZ-75), but the discussion below reminds me of a retired Army Ranger I know. He served in the 1980's into the 1990's. His first combat action was in Panama (he was a Captain and was involved with the first assault and then was also involved with the Hard Rock...

Thoughts on Bryco and the cheap pistols.

This talk about the zinc crap out there, such as Jiminez and Lorcin (which even among low-end aficionados is considered abject crap), got me to reflecting on my own personal experiences in the realm oh-so-long ago. Okay, let's look at if with a novice eye for a minute. When I got out of...

    Swiss-made CZ75

Folks have not heard much, if at all, of this extremely rare-version of the CZ-75. A very small number of CZ-75's were actually made in Switzerland. They were made by ITM in Solothurn, but it the relationship between CZ and ITM soured. ITM took the remainder of their materials and produced...

CZ clones - an interesting read.

I came across this over on CZforum and the Tanfoglio forum. It seems like a pretty concise - if rambling - description of the CZ clones. The CZ-75, the Walther PP, and the 1911 are definitely the most copied three autoloader designs ever. http://tz75man.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=244

    The Daley has spoken...

"We'll publicly propose a new ordinance very soon. As a city we must continue to stand up and fight for a ban on assault weapons as well as a crackdown on gun shops. We are a country of laws not a nation of guns." he says, in response to the court which just established the law of the land. I...

Mis-Aligned slide stop hole cause locking lug damage?

Mis-Aligned slide stop hole cause locking lug damage - With Photos Now I have a pistol, a steel-framed AT-84 with heavily-worn locking lugs on both the barrel and the slide. A 1mm headspace issue has arisen as a result of the lugs pounding against each other due to the deformation. It is in...

    SIG Serial Number range?

Hey, I'm trying to date my Sig 220 based on the serial number, which is G 112XXX. It is Swiss-made with the rounded front and so it has no German proofs. Repeat, it has no German proofs, only two Swiss proofs. In other words, it is not a German-made 220, but rather a Swiss-made one (Montage...
