    Would lethal force be justified?

I always like to test "Lethal Force" questions with: "Does it matter?" Ultimately, if you have the need to rid another person of their life, do you care if you're in jail? Naturally, no one would like to be in jail. But, if it cost you some jail time to save your life, your child's life...

    No Safety or Safety

If a gun doesn't fire when you pull the trigger on a chambered round, it's malfunctioning. I don't understand people that trust their lives to their firearm of their choice, but don't trust themselves enough to handle that firearm. I've never had trouble reholstering any firearm with or...

Got pulled over...strange question from LEO

100% wrong. Please stop spreading such rumours, or attach a statute when you do (attempt to) quote law.

Florida Sheriff's Org fights Open Carry Bill

Florida has no law against brandishing. Hell, Florida doesn't even recognize the word brandish to even have a definition of it! There is a law against careless, reckless, or threatening display. A barrel popping out beneath a t-shirt is none of these. What's next, are people going to talk about...

Florida Sheriff's Org fights Open Carry Bill

This is always interesting, since if you go far enough back, only the bad guys carried their guns where they couldn't be seen - and now that's the only thing these folks want.

Florida Sheriff's Org fights Open Carry Bill

I'd love to know. It's sad everytime we have to bring up the "40+ other states" thing. Then again, Florida normally runs last in education ratings of the 50 states, and I've rarely heard anyone who is well-educated question the statistics of other states, gun crimes, and the safety of armed...

Florida Sheriff's Org fights Open Carry Bill

They're going to end up learning the hard way. Any officer who puts 100% focus on someone legally open-carrying around the police is an idiot. Hell, any officer who ever puts 100% focus on any single person is poorly trained. Also note: This brash type of attack (and/or threat thereof)...

drawing a 1911...when to thumb safety off

Jeff Cooper is also said to have disabled the grip safety on his 1911 and said a few times that he didn't believe they were any good. He's not the end-all be-all of firearms. I don't say that to jump on his grave. That said, the thumb-safety off I still don't believe should be condition 0. In...

drawing a 1911...when to thumb safety off

Thumb safety goes off once the weapon is safely holstered. While in a proper holster, the gun is not going to go off on its own. When drawing, finger off trigger until you're ready to shoot - same as any other firearm.

    Ruger LCR

Even rotating my LCR out of timing (which, again, it something that I see no reason to ever want to do) - it will not drop the firing pin until the timing is correct. Forcing a gun out of timing isn't so surprising. That's like saying you can cause any semi-automatic to fail by pushing the...

    Ruger LCR

It sounds like bergman is saying to start a rotation of the cylinder by pulling the trigger - then with your other hand - grab the cylinder and put it out of time (at least, when he says 'now manually rotate the cylinder' that's what it sounds like). bergman, am I right? If so, why the heck...

Guy open carries an AK, stopped breifly by cops.

So what? If ignorant people get the idea from movies that all cell phones are actually doomsday devices, should you stop carrying one? If people begin to give up their own rights for the comfort of others, how soon is it before no rights are left? The comfort of the ignorant is a poor reason...

Anyone else prefer Ruger over S&W?

Ruger's "equivalent" to the 642? You mean the lighter, less-recoiling, less expensive LCR?

Lethal force against attempt at disarm

Florida considers both aggravated assault and aggravated battery to be forcible felonies. Any forcible felony in FL is justifiable grounds to use deadly force. It is in other states as well - but I am not up to date with all other states definition of forcible felony, standing ground, nor their...

Lethal force against attempt at disarm

In my state, you may shoot for aggravated battery and aggravated assault. Attempting to disarm me will most likely result in both. I've found no court cases (not even non-supreme court cases) in my precursory search that cover this directly. You can be sure that if someone is attempting to...

    Knife clip exposed: legality?

Since you are in the state of Florida, I'll post what Florida cares about: As there are no other laws that note anything illegal about carrying a "common pocketknife", it is legal. There's nothing in the lawbooks about it being visible or concealed. There is no definition of "common...

Anyone know FL and TX CCW rules

No law against printing in FL. You can carry anywhere not mentioned in the statute 790.06(12) Disney, etc, are all fine to carry in - just don't advertise. That said, carry on-person, not in a bag as bags are checked. I've carried to every theme park in the state with no issues.

    gun you regret buying...

Chiappa 1911-22. Inaccurate & prone to jamming regardless of ammunition. Their warranty requires you pay to ship, etc, and I've yet to hear of anyone having theirs corrected to be accurate or not jam.
