Objectively speaking, why the 40 S&W hate / decline?

.40S&W remains a VERY widely used caliber and is in no danger of disappearing. .40S&W will be with us, as a mainstream defense caliber, for the long-haul. .40S&W is easily my favorite defense caliber with an semi-auto pistol. I came to this conclusion after years of having and shooting many...

    CZ P10

Glock bought their way into many departments and snowed the FBI with Glock 40s. Then, after the Glock 40 experiment had run its course, with relatively poor success, instead of the FBI changing pistols to better .40S&W pistols, Glock snowed them again with financial incentives to stick with...

Sig P938 One of the best carry guns available.

In its size category (almost pocket gun size) it is a good choice indeed. When I shoot mine, I only use the extended magazine on my P938, as well. It's a good little back-up pistol but I would almost never carry it as a primary carry gun. Generally, I rarely ever pull mine out of the safe. I...

    CZ P10

Well, I'll agree that 9mm is more effective than it once was, by far. But it certainly is not "just as effective" as .40S&W, nor as .45auto. There are differences between the calibers and the different bullet weights. The larger, heavier calibers still have the advantage in a greater ability...

    CZ P10

I, too, have far more Glocks than any other brand. And in recent years, acquiring several M&Ps, several P320s, an HK VP40, I've come to view the Glocks, which I engaged with so heavily at one time, as being comparatively unrefined, ill-fitting, and with less-than-hoped for triggers. Glocks...

Had my First (and hopefully last) Squib

For those interested In the lamps I mentioned earlier... here's a pic showing the one on my Dillon 650 Clipped to the corner of the bullet tray. On a flex shaft, so you can direct the light right down into the cases. As an aside... I found these great little military pouches on Amazon for...

Ordered a Rossi 1892 today, great price

I picked up a Puma 92 Trapper in .454 Casull/.45 Colt. Great little rifle. I mostly shoot .45 Colt with it. Its not the rifle my Browning B92 was (sorry I sold that one!), but it's a good rifle. .45 Colt is an awesome caliber. .454 Casull is a real powerhouse!

Had my First (and hopefully last) Squib

You're welcome... I'm really glad I found them myself. They have helped my reloading and my gunsmith work immensely. Being able to choose between (or buy both) spring-clip mount or desktop mount is great. I have a few of both now. The one I have mounted on the side of my Dillon 650 shines...

Had my First (and hopefully last) Squib

There is no apparent defect of any kind in terms of the usefulness of these lights. The output and color quality is good. And for $7 to $8, they are a no-brainer. I use a couple of these lights at my gunsmith table as well, for exceptional illumination. Good lighting is extremely important...

Had my First (and hopefully last) Squib

Lighting for reloading is really important. I use a Dillon 650. Wal-Mart has LED lamps with spring clips for about $8. They're great. Very bright, last forever, versatile, and cheap. I have one mounted on the side of my 650 shining right down into the cases on the turret which really helps...

    M&P45c vs M&P45 Shield

I think that makes good sense. My view is that if one must go with a sub-compact single stack, 9mm is the most suitable caliber for such a pistol. Since you already have a 9mm Shield - that's about the ideal sub-compact single stack choice.

    M&P45c vs M&P45 Shield

I have the M&P45C, but not the Shield. I would take the M&P45C over the Shield any day considering that it is easy to conceal and carry, has capacity of 8+1 for 9 or 10+1 for 11 rounds, 4" barrel to help keep a decent velocity, more hand-filling grip to soften/disperse recoil in the hand, and...

    BHP in 40 S&W?

I've had two .40S&W HiPowers. One a hard-chromed version (they called it "silver chrome") and a high polished blued version. Both outstanding pistols, especially after removing the mag-disconnect "safety" feature, and having a trigger job by Don Williams. They launch .40 very comfortably -...

    Softest shooting 45 alive?

Well... since we seem to have evolved into discussions of soft-shooting full-size .45s, I find the Springfield GI Hi-Cap 1911, which is all-steel, to be very soft-shooting, especially with all upgraded components and customized by John Harrison. And I do carry this on occasion. Black Ion-Bond...

    Softest shooting 45 alive?

If you must go with the short 4.25" barrel, my vote would be for a Baer 1911 Commanche with the full length dust cover. All steel frame with the extra weight of the full length dust cover to tame the recoil. A 5" Government size Baer, also with the full length dust cover, would be even softer...

    First SIG

My vote is for the P320, the pistol that will carry SIG into a prosperous future. I'm not a fan of DA/SA designs. I like the G19, but find the P320 Compact much more enjoyable to shoot - and about as easy to carry.

    Mossberg Trench Gun

The TLR makes for a great light on pistols and long guns. And here's an aftermarket flashlight body the size of a Surefire Executive E1 light. I prefer clones of Surefire lights, as you can get such better LED emitters than Surefire offers, for a small fraction of the price.
