I agree with Fisherdave get a 40 and you can convert it to 9 or 357sig.

Maybe your scope is losing zero after one shot of the 50ae.

Since you asked about a carry gun my vote would be a gen 4 26 or 27. Change the mag release and just rack the slide then you are all set. I am a lefty and find the gen 4 platform to work well. The only problem is it isn't easy to find gen 4 mags. Once you change the mag release it has to be gen...

I love my gen4 I am a leftie so switching the mag release is great for me. I also like the grip size with out any back straps.
