If You Are Going To Bubba A Mosin-Nagant

Nice rifle, they are money pits though. Saw one in a pawn shop the other day, barrel cut to 16'' and not re-crowned. The stock was cut down as well, had a big flashlight/ scope mount/ red dot. It looks like something from a buck rodgers rifle. The shop wants $350 for it and said custom...

    looking for a hog rifle.

94 Seams a bit high depending on condition and year. If it's a post 64 version it should be in perfect condition. It seems a little high to me but they are ussually pretty cheap around here. Also look for Remington 760 pump actions. They could be pretty cheap on the used market and are...

    looking for a hog rifle.

Hog gun I always see used Remington 760's at my local GS rangin from $200-350. The pice varies on condition ussually. The 30-30 in Marlin and Win are great deal as well. You should be able to buy a nice rifle (possibly scoped) off the used rack for well within that price range with some...

Help with a rifle at my local GS.

I found a rifle down at my local GS the tag says it's a 95 Mauser, but has a winchester model 70 feather weight barrell. The Mauser was a chambered in 308 and had a 20'' barrell. My guess, is that it was rebarrelled with the winny. The Serial number on the action started with a T and looked to...

    Savage Model 99

A 30-30 is is going to be a more rare rifle of the two calibers. I am no expert, but even an older 99 should be able to hold up to most if not all 30-30 loads. The 99 in 308 would be nice as well, but my self I'd opt for the 30-30 since I never seen one. I own a 99 in 300 savage, love it too...

    should I buy that 30-30?

336 It's classic rifle in a classic deer caliber. I'd personally opt for a older one without a safety. I usually see them in for $250-300, I personally don't think the new ones are worth the asking price. IMO the 336 is a much better hunting rifle then the mosin and you will grow to love...

Thoughts on an H&R Handi 18" in 45-70?

I have one with a 22' barrell and the kick isn't bad at all. The shorter barrell is proabablty an issue though. I get mine to shoot minute of saucer at 100 yard with factory sights.

    Excessive range fees?

Here in the Portland, Oregon area the only large one is around $400 a year with outdoor from 25-300 yards, plus indoor range 25-50, trap and skeet. The rest are more pretty outragous.

The .22 LR: what can I hunt with it?

There are tons of ground squirrels around the Northern/central parts of California. Also Jack rabbits, a stroll down most levys will scare up some runners. This is where a non scoped semi-auto or levergun comes in handy.

First time Elk Hunt - Where would you go?

Here in Oregon is an option, we have Rocky Mountain in the Cascade/eastern side wich is a little more open country hunting. On the coast we have the big Rosies, which make for a tough hunt in the rainforest. I've got a little experience on the coast and was close last year, until some clod...

    BVAC Ammo

Working through a 500 count case of 40 S&W HP. It was cheap at $120 and accurate enough for me and my sigma. I've had no failures at all with this ammo and would buy another.

    .22wmr ?

Has Marlin ever made a semi-auto 22 wmr like the model 60? I googled it but haven't been able find anything. Would it cycle better from a tube mag?

    Hoosier Deer Rifle

cool guns. I shot one of those savage model 10 slug bolt guns a while back and it felt right. Know absolutly nothing about slug's and slug guns I can only say that this puppy was super accurate. I'm thinking of getting one to use as a dedicated elk rifle...

    Best rifle for a farm

sks You are describing an sks, cheap, rugged accurate enough out to 200 yards. Just picked up my Norenco with a Monte Carlo stock for $149. If these don't float your boat a 30-30 marlin is an excellent choice.

    Single shot?

My Handie rifle in 45-70 is nice and lite, it carries and balances perfectly in my hands especially in that thick stuff. I hunt in the Oregon coastal range, so shot's are very close in. It's also a cheap rifle that I don't have to worry about getting scratched or a bit rusty from the rainforest.

Price Check: Stevens Falling Block .22, don't know anything about this gun

I'd go $150 tops, while being a neat little rifle it isn't the most accurate and it's a Stevens. Theres one thats kind of rough in my local GS for $199 and they usually have fair prices on used guns. The one my friend had shot ok, I just don't really care to much for single shot 22's.

best out of the box squirrel gun

My vote is a .410, but I'd get the Marlin 1895 in .410 since you already have an adequate .22. http://www.cabelas.com/fryprod-0/product--Marlin174-Model-1895-Lever-Action-410-Shotgun--706394.uts.shtml
