    Modification to Full Auto

some clarification hso kindly unlocked the thread so I could post a clarification: I absolutely was NOT asking how to do this. My purpose was to have factual information I could use to rebut claims that it was easy to convert a semi-automatic AR to full-auto Thanks to all that responded.

    Modification to Full Auto

No, I'm not asking how to do it! In the news, it's been stated that the San Bernadino terrorists had attempted to modify a S&W M&P 15 to fire full auto. Lost somewhere in the back recesses of my brain, I thought there was an ATF regulation something like this: If a firearm could be...

    Bagmaster still in business?

Has anyone purchased anything at all from Bagmaster recently? I would like to replace something I've worn out, but their website is just a place holder, and their phone number goes to fast busy.

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

I contacted Wilson Combat, who sent out a new spring and follower. Shorter spring is the 20 year old one, longer is brand new. (I need to figure out how to embed Google+ photos)...

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

Wilson is sending a new spring and follower. My follower does not have the bump that my Colt OEM mags have. I'll post a pic of the new follower when it arrives. Here's my Wilson mag (probably from 95) and my Colt mag (from 1990) (if I did the attachment correctly)

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

I decided to drop Wilson Combat a note, describing the issue. We'll see how they respond. I'll also start checking out Wolff springs. I'll keep you posted.

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

OK, I think I understand what happened ... can I fix it, or do I just junk the mag?

    Odd malfunction in a 1911

I have a Colt Gold Cup National Match Series 80 that I bought new back in 1990. I used this in the league shooting at ProShots Range here in Winston Salem. Last night I had a malfunction I've never encountered before. We shoot 5 shot strings, so I had 5 rounds in a Wilson Combat mag...

Anti 2A reporter destroyed by the facts

Apropos of just a little, I had called into a radio talk show, and got overtalked by the host (his normal tactic when he was being shown his imbecility). I went silent, and when the host asked if I was there, said that I didn't want to talk while he was interrupting. It was truly wonderful.

Guns no longer welcome at Starbucks

I went to Starbucks on two of the appreciation days, open carrying a handgun, holstered, dressed neatly. On the first occasion, I gave the clerk a card with my cash, explaining why I was there. He mentioned that one other person had been in there, and mentioned the appreciation day. On...

    Car Wheels as targets

shootsteel.com recommends 25yds for handgun, and 100 yds for rifle, and I'm going to stick with that. I'm also thinking of something for the back of the plate so that it hangs at a slight angle downward, relative to the shooting position. That, coupled with the distance, coupled with the...

    Car Wheels as targets

Just placed an order for a AR500, 6", 1/2" gong from shootsteel.com. $30, including shipping. 6" should be well within the capabilities of my Garand, small enough to be a moderate challenge for me, but big enough that it won't be overly frustrating. That's my prediction, at least :-)

    Car Wheels as targets

OK, I'm convinced that I won't be using the wheels. I sent an email to tarheeltargets to find out about some 6" plates. I'm also wondering if I can get some AR500 from Salem Steel, here in Winston Salem. Balloons won't cut it ... I want something that won't require resetting :-)

    Car Wheels as targets

onlinemetals sounds just like what I really want. The local fab shop still hasn't replied, mccormack (or some thing like that, they've got all sorts of stuff) was $90 for 12x12. With the rifles, I would be shooting at about 150 yds, & downhill a bit, so I'm not very worried about richochet...

    Car Wheels as targets

Hmm, road grader blade. OK, let's switch, and what to folks think about smaller farm implements? Harrow disc? Other heavy steel objects? We've got a few salvage outfits locally that might have that kind of thing. I'm still waiting for a response from a local fabrication shop about some...

    Car Wheels as targets

A friend has 150yds or so cleared out on his acreage, and has given me permission to shoot there (he & his son cleared this spot specifically for shooting.) As a contribution to him, I wanted to provide some fun reactive targets. I'm trying to source some steel plate locally, but in the...

    Suport Starbucks on Feb. 14th

I'm stealing that elevator speech! Over on Google+, I mentioned my Starbucks visit. One person in my circles (an e-quaintance from another list) asked me to uncircle him, because of that update. I am still in communication with him, and I'm going to drop that when appropriate.

    Suport Starbucks on Feb. 14th

I don't really like Starbucks coffee, and since I work at home, it's a minor PITA to go out to Starbucks, but I made the trip today, and told the clerk why I was there. Open Carry, with a dark shirt and a stainless 1911, for maximum visibility :-)

    Top Shot - Season 3

Adding to Jim's comments about the sound, the extras video for the movie "Master & Commander: Far Side of the World" has a feature on all the post production sound work that it took to make naval cannon sound good.

Looking for a good android based ballistic app.

I'm nearly certain that there is one. PM me as a reminder and I'll ask my buddy what he uses. He uses Strelok https://market.android.com/details?id=com.borisov.strelok&feature=search_result
