Progressive or single stage for beginner?

Wow, lots of opinions! Thank you all for your replies. I knew that if there is one thing you can count on THR for, it's the giving of opinions. :) As 1911user suggested, here's some more info about my situation. I want to reload for 9mm and .45 ACP, and eventually being able to work up...

Progressive or single stage for beginner?

My apologies if this has been dicussed before, but I couldn't find any past threads with the info I wanted. I would like to start reloading, but have gotten different opinions as to what to start out with. One person says single stage, another says progressive. Do you have an opinion on...

Guns and Ammo Armed Response book?

I've recently obtained a large stack of old Guns and Ammo magazines. Since I am pretty new to the shooting world, I have been enjoying reading them and getting all sorts of new information (that is pretty old by now, I guess). I have been especially interested in the Armed Response section...

Indiana to blame for Chicago's crime rate-Indy Star article

Go to indystar.com and on the top there is an article that blames Indiana's "lax" gun laws for the crime problem in Chicago. I particularly liked the line on how an AK-47 "sprayed the bullets" that murdered a 14 year old in Chicago recently.:barf: There's an editorial on the page calling for...

Question for THRers who work in corrections

I'm a teacher at a medium security level facility here in Indiana. Everything said so far has been right on the money. Do not trust inmates. Do not ever forget why they are there. They weren't walking down the street, minding their own business, when they were suddenly snatched up off...

    Aging Eyeballs

Hi Dad, If you are having trouble using your guns, I'll be more than happy to take care of them for you! :neener: ;)

    Sig ammo sensitive?

Usually I would just buy whatever it liked and use that. But I also bought a case of S&B(well, actually my dad bought it. Thanks Dad! :) )at the Ft.Wayne show and was hoping to use that up before I got any more. It seems to me that a well-made firearm should work with any decent commerical...

    Sig ammo sensitive?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm loathe to give up on it, especially after getting such a good deal ($370!). I'll try running a few boxes of WWB through it and then see what happens with the S&B. If that doesn't work, then I'll take it to the gunsmith and see what he can find. Thanks...

    Sig ammo sensitive?

I was at the Ft. Wayne gun show this past Saturday and found a (barely) used Sig 239 for a pretty good price. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but you all know how that goes. Anyway, when I went to the range to try it out the next day, it kept jamming! :cuss: Stovepipes, feeding...

Was this an an incident in the making?

Ok, tell me what you think. My husband and I were leaving the movie theater the other night, chatting about the movie as we usually do, and walked past the crowd that was standing in line for tickets to the next showing. As we pass, I see out the of the corner of my eye a man step out of the...

Wife Needs To Deflect Unwanted Attention

Being a female shooter, I too have found myself surrounded by guys at the range trying to "help". I listen to their advice, then continue with what I was doing anyway and proceed to put 30 rounds downrange in the 10 ring at 10-15 yards. They generally leave me alone after that. ;)

Arming Teachers in School - Good Idea? Bad Idea?

The students already have firearms in school, why not the teachers too? :p P.S. I'm a teacher.

Pro-AWB college newspaper article and the responses

Ah, Ball State University. My alma mater. Best five years of my life. The article is your typical lie-filled claptrap, but most of the responses to the article made me proud to be associated with the university (other than the fact that Letterman went there, of course)...

    N.W. Indiana Gun Show?

I'll be there both days. Saturday I'm going with my dad (hopefully I can get him to buy me something  ) and then Sunday with some friends that I've introduced to shooting and have never been to a show before. I think we might be going to Blythe's afterwards try out any new toys.

Yes, it's this weekend. Have you ever been? It's a pretty good one, or at least it was the last time I was there.

Positive AWB Sunset news article (for once)

Finally, here's a news article that seems to get it right for once. This is also the same paper that reported on the gun store owner shooting a would-be robber a few months back. I guess NW Indiana isn't so bad after all. ;)...

    Hello from NW Indiana

No, I don't know his alisas. I'll have to ask the next time I see him. Where's the Conservation Club located? A couple of people have told me about it, but I still don't know where it's at. Let me know the time and location, and I'll try to make it on Sunday :)
