.22LR ammo is now available, but where?

Somebody earlier said they never see anyone shooting .22, same here. I've been shooting for over 30 years and have a lot of friends/family that shoots, but nobody shooting .22 anymore. 5.56, 9mm, 45 etc, but not .22. I can only imagine the vast amount some people have stored up. I hope to...

.22LR ammo is now available, but where?

I haven't seen a single box of the stuff at a wal mart, in southern Indiana, since about January of 2013. Occasionally gander mtn, or academy will have some target stuff or aguila and the rural King has aguila for about 5 dollars for 50 rounds. I hear rumors of cci, federal, etc, but I haven't...

    .22lr MEGATHREAD

If I came across a bulk pack for 25 bucks, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Where I live, I have been able to buy exactly two boxes, 100 each, in the last two years. I have heard rumors of its existence, but as far as I can actually prove, there is no more 22 being made. I am glad I had a...

    Gun superstitions/phrases

"Cold enough to freeze the balls off of a brass monkey". I saw something on television once that said that in the old cannon ball days, the balls were stacked in a pyramid shape next to the guns. Since they are round, and would roll away on their own, the first row was set on a holder of some...

    Arghhhhh. Yes its ammo related.

Ammo is scarce around here, but I have been able to find some. 9mm and .45 seem to be reasonably available, I've been able to shoot a box or two a week. I haven't seen a box of .22 LR in quite a while though. For whatever reason, 7.62x39, .40, and .17 seem to be regularly available and at...

The ammo shelves at cabellas look like they are going out of business.

I stopped by our local Gander Mountain today and while they had no 5.56, 7.62, or .22LR, they had lots of everything else. End caps of 9, 45, and .40. Lots of 30/30, 30-06 etc. even had a few cans of smokeless powder, so I picked up a one pound can of IMR 4064. No primers of bullets though...

So after watching a few episodes of "triggers"...

I liked it. Keep in mind that the average viewer is probably is probably not a gun person. I'm sure that on some forum, someone is saying how unrealistic and inaccurate Pawn Stars is over some detail.

    sons of guns new episode

I like the show. It is just entertainment, better than a lot of the shows on. While almost all of it is staged, like all "reality shows", at least I get to see a lot of cool guns.

    Want a Garand

Thanks for the info. The stock condition is really not a big deal. It is easily replaced or cleaned up. I have cleaned up some really bad looking Enfield and Mauser stocks that, in my opinion, turned out darn nice. The metlal is my main concern. It sounds like I should concentrate on the SG...

    Public or Private Range

I'm curious about the shooting on public lands thing. Indiana generally doesn't allow it. Is it more common out west? I see a lot of videos on Youtube of guys shooting in the desert. My home range is currently only 100 yards, but i have big plans.......just not the money.

    Public or Private Range

I am curious as to how many people here shoot at "public" ranges as opposed to "private" ranges? With the exception of military ranges, I don't think I have ever even stepped foot onto a public range. I have always shot on my own property (48 acres WAY out i the country) :D or at friend's...

Mausers, Enfields, Springfields still used by guerrilla...does it make sense??

I recall watching, on Animal Planet I think, a show not too long ago where some African nation was issuing old French MAS rifles to their game wardens, but no ammo. So they basically just carried the rifles as "show". I think many insurgent groups would be the same, rifles but no ammo.

Mausers, Enfields, Springfields still used by guerrilla...does it make sense??

If true, I would imagine it is a case of use what is available, not what you would prefer. Remember that, with the mauser and enfield at least, they were widely used and distributed by the colonial powers of the early 20th century. I would guess that due to that, availability in some areas is...
