Unique from most measures, vari by 2/10 grs. But range brass is the worst.
Bullet pull can be any where from 45 lbs to over 100 pounds to move the bullet.
Most times- Fire, wipe with rag or roll in a towel, load. Pistol brass.
My 1970s RCBS 357 carbide die started galling last year. Lots of wear. Lube did stop the galling on the very old die.
Contacted RCBS, new die was sent. No using lube for me.
100 New 357 mag Starline brass. 22 loadings & counting. 1 split mouth. 163gr cast lswc. Alliant 2400/13 grs.
No 9, 12.1 grs. A few 4227 & w296.
Not lubing any pistol brass, for RCBS cardide dies. .
I load them, but not really tracking times loaded. 500 Starline 45acp on 6th loading cycle...

Old nickel 357 Remington brass is harder to eject from S&W M28 , when compared to same in brass.
Less spring back of the nickel case. Both cases reloaded many times. Load 163 lswc, Alliant 2400 @ 13.0 grs, mag primers. NOTE: WSPM have shown to increase pressure over other primer brands.
No 9 position sensitive powder? In 357 with 163 gr lswc @12.1 grs Fed mag primer. Seems to make 2 groups @ 25 yards.
No chronograph to test it. Sold chronograph back in the 70's, not buying another.
Speer has plastic training bullets.
Makes revolver very dirty.
Stopped and bought air rifle & pistols, to shoot in basement.

I dont like brass that has been sitting around in buckets, of unknow origin.
I learned in the1970 not to buy once fired brass. Ordered some 44 mag brass out of Shotgun News. It was once fired for sure. Proof Loads.

SAAMI set standards and is correct saying, flush to .008" below the case head. *When seated to bottom of the pocket.*
I have seen shallow 38 spec brass pockets, where the primer is above the case head. The defect was corrected by uniforming the depth of the pocket.
Primers can be mashed in...
Forcing cone reamer kit Brownells instructions. The .020" is bullet clearance, not thickness.
Yes, barrels do crack.
Had a early model Colt 357 mag Trooper, crack. A maximum load with 125 gr jacketed bullet cracked the forcing cone.
1970s Colts have very soft metal & parts are surface...
Looks ok. There is a lot of thickness left. A forcing cone is .020" larger then bullet diameter.
I have seen a S&W M29 44 mag with almost a knives edge on the barrel face. Was still accurate.
My 29 barrel was set back and recut, still looks bad, but shoots ok.

IMR4227 powder would be my choice, over H110 & W296. IMR 4227 is more forgiving when down loading or at starting loads.
My guess. 25grs IMR 4227 as a start. Load 1 round, fire. The price per...
