I have to agree with what's being said here. Ruger service is tops. I live in Connecticut, and for years I'd simply show up at the plant if I had a problem and they'd fix it while I waited.
It's probably a good idea to reward Ruger for this superb customer care by making an occasional...
I think about this from time to time. :)
Pa Cartwright, Matt Dillon, and John Taffin like the 7.5"... but it just doesn't feel right to me. Doesn't look right, either. I'm sure the problem is with me. :)
The 4.75" really looks great... It really says 'gunfighter' like nothing else. It also...
Thanks to each one who offered an idea or two.
I passed this thread on to my buddy... let's hope he finds something here that will work for him.
Thanks again! :)
My friend is thinking about a bolt action 30-06. He's new to centerfire rifles and wants to get in the game inexpensively. He'll be using the rifle mostly for range, but some hunting.
He wants to use iron sights, so the rifle must have them. :)
Clean used would be fine, I'm sure.
What...
I surely would. I used to work at a place where you'd check your gun, and they asked for you to leave it holstered.
But more than that, taking out my gun outside my home or a range kind of goes against my grain. It just doesn't feel right.
Leave it in the holster... simpler and safer, IMO.

Good stuff there. :)
What are those grips? I think that's something I'd like... they appear to be walnut, but a straighter, less fancy American type. The sort of thing that was found on the original. Am I right?
Yup! I have one in .38 Spl... and it's about perfect. I cannot imagine the STI actually being 'better'. I'm really curious what the general opinion will be once some knowledgeable sixgunners have compared USFA, Colt and STI.
This is my favorite type of handgun and I'm pretty excited to see...
This is a good-looking revolver. The case colors look just right to me on SAA's. The 'hard rubber' type black grips also look right to me. My 2nd Gens have it, my 3rd Gen does not... it has two-piece walnut. I wish it had the hard rubber.
The 'checkering' on the grips looks a bit coarser then...
This might work. :)
I have a kit for my Ruger Standard model. It's a bolt and spring and magazine. The idea was to install it, then use the special magazine to fire .22 Shorts out of the pistol.
But in playing around with it, I found that it would fire subsonic .22 LR, using the bolt and...
I can't see the Anaconda being as rugged as a Redhawk. Redhawk takes "Rugged" to the next level (Super Redhawk takes it to the level after that!).
When I take my Redhawk down, I'm always amazed and cheered by the incredibly beefy parts. I have every confidence that it will last for a lifetime...
Arg, that's what I was afraid of... sorry it didn't work out. Sure would have been fun, though. :)
As I think about it... do they still make those chamber inserts? You could shoot .22 rimfires using those. And I guess I could fire a .17 rimfire using the proper insert in my little Sako...
I'd just send it to Ruger. I really get uneasy about mysterious problems in a serious firearm. Even if it suddenly stopped 'jamming' I wouldn't trust it... I mean WHY did it do that and how do I know the problem won't return?
Revolvers are simple as can be and you shouldn't be having this...
How exactly does that work? If the shots are too close together to score on the target, how does it help to put something else behind the target? Just curious. :)
I have both, and have had and shot them since the 70's.
The M-1 Carbine is superior, IMO. It's a thoroughly proven combat arm, capable of serving under the very hardest conditions. I can't say that about the Mini. The Mini just seems clunky and dinky next to the Carbine.
The .223 round is...
Subsonic .223 sounds VERY interesting. That's really the sort of thing I'd like from a .17 Rem, but I didn't think velocity that low was realistically possible from the round without being unusably erratic.
Where did you see that Hodgdon data? Please share any information you get playing with...
Oh, for a Clean Pre-64
In the back of my mind I always hoped for a nice pre-64.
But now that ALL Win 94's have gone up in price, I'm not sure I'll ever see one at an attractive price. Folks with those rifles generally know what they have and they don't part with them easily... I know I...
My Dillon 550B will do that, too... leave a little dimple in the primer if the primer punch has some little crud thing on it. I watch for that, though it's never caused any problems at all. I have an ink eraser with a brush on the end near my press so I can kind of 'polish' that punch if it gets...
