Gave a friend and her husband a Marlin 60 for christmas a few years back. First gun they ever owned. I've taken them both shooting a few times. They want to buy a couple of hand guns. Looking at a Smith Model 10 for their first one.
I'm a big fan of S&W 10 and 65. My wife is 5 foot tall and 120 pounds and recoil shy. She likes them both pretty well. Shes a slow shooter but hits her target out to 20 feet. Try them with some gold dot HP for your SD ammo.

I agree to buy more 22LR. You can never have to much of it. Good to hunt small game and to teach others to shoot. I'd consider buying a .22 rifle to go with more ammo.
But, if I see a crimped primer pocket when I go for final reloading I will generally toss them in my brass recycling bucket. I don't ream out pockets and I have far enough regular brass not to concern myself with crimped pockets.
If you aren't wanting that crimped .223 will you sell and ship...
I don't have enough knowledge of bolt actions to say what one you should get. From what little I've read probably a CZ. But I'll let people that know more direct you on that. I plan on learning more from the responses also.

I would have to say go with a good quality bolt action .22. Ammo is a lot cheaper than a center fire so you get a lot more practice. You also won't have the recoil of a center fire so you won't develope a flinch while your learning.
