    Budget US made snubbie

I think you will like your SP101 but it is a bit heavy for pocket carry. I carry my SP in a owb pancake. I pocket carry a J frame with CT 405 grips. It is much lighter and slightly smaller than the SP.

    help picking a Rifle

I voted .243 because of availability of factory ammo. You might also consider a 25-06.

    Will S&W Rebarrel a 686?

My two cents- Have a local Smith cut the barrel to the length you want. Should cost about $150. Putting a new barrel on may be a lot of work, because the ejector rod of a 4" is longer than a 2.5". A side benefit would be that with the longer ejector still installed getting the empties out is...

.38 Special Moonclips... What am I doing wrong?

Rim thickness on .38s varies from maker to maker. Smith should have noted the preferred brass maker (Federal, Remington, Starline). If you tried loading the wrong size brass into the clips it does tweek them. Go to TK customs website there are many answers there for you and TK is the best site...

    New Ruger SP101 22LR - Very Disappointed

It is not "nonsensical" Thunderbolts and some Aguilla are so soft that they lead the ENTIRE barrel, I had it happen to a MkII. It looked like a smooth bore after 200 rounds. As to gun store employees, I KNOW they use the merchandise.

New to Revolvers - 637 "Deep Cover" Question(s) and Advice

Try the J frame for a while. If you like it,Great! You can always swap for an LCR later if the J doesn't work for you. Any custom, limited edition is going to be worth more later on, than a common version. And they both perform the same mission. Also, The J is marginally smaller than the LCR.

    New Ruger SP101 22LR - Very Disappointed

Was this a brand new SP or a used one? Or perhaps the employees of the LGS took it out for some shooting and used some Thunderbolts or other real soft lead rounds that filled in the grooves. I think I would have tried to fix the SP before trading it away. BUT, your gun, your time, your...

    Would you trade a S&W 66 (no dash) for a snubbie 686plus?

I really like both! And have both. That being said finding a nice older 66 is a chore, while 686s are abundant. I would keep the 66 and save up for a 686.

    New S&W K-frame .357?

My guess is that the same changes they made in the L frames to make a 69 would translate to the K frames to do a very reliable .357.

    FBI looking at 9x19mm sidearms

I would say that the change to 9mm is two fold. First is cost of ammo and the ability to share ammo with other federal agencies like the DOD. Second is MANY of those non-LEO types that the FBI hires,(Techs, lawyers,MDs and such), have a difficult time qualifying with their duty weapons and have...

    NEW Ruger STRIKER FIRED LC9

need help to lighten 686 trigger pull

With a Smith I wouldn't mess with the springs. Just find a good gunsmith and have him smooth out the insides and it will feel like you have 2 pound lighter springs. I would recommend Bolsa Gunworks near Westminster Mall. They have a southern boy in there that does excellent work on Smiths and...

    Laser for my 442

For a J frame laser, I highly recommend the Crimson Trace 405 grip. Mounting is simple and the grips are very comfy to shoot with. They usually can be found in the $200 range. As to the Laser Max I have no experience with them, but if I have to use an off hand manipulation to activate the laser...

    S&W Performance Center Trigger Job?

How about a Factory Authorized Smith? My old smith could do all factory authorized repairs on Smith and Walther products w/o the shipping back to the factory. And he did two really great action jobs for me.

    S&W .38 caliber "Bodyguard"

My favorite grips for my J frames are the Crimson Trace 405s. They fit my hands the best. My best load is Federal Premium. I think all Smith people have affection for the ol' HUMPBACK.

Best caliber for a Ruger Vaquero

First choice would be the .357/9mm convertible. Cheaper to feed and more options. Also when you get a convertible, in any caliber, the actions are better than the single caliber guns because a real, live smith fits both cylinders to the frame and tunes the action. I would be open to the...

Does a SA offer anything a DA doesn't (Blackhawk vs. Redhawk)

I have a Redhawk with a 3" barrel that I love shooting but hate carrying the weight in the backcountry. The 69 has my eye as well, it looks like a great field weapon. Since most of your shooting will be with your rifle, make your pistol as light as possible while still being useful.

    S&W revolvers now vs. then

Pre 76 or so are better. After bangor-punta and then the Brits owned the company, quality was horrendous. Then the gun guys in Phoenix bought the company; after the Brit co. ran it into the ground with bad decisions and being in bed with the clintons. The Phoenix guys ran a good shop, they were...
