    New to me Kel-Tec P11

I had a P-11 years ago. I had no problem getting adapted to the long pull but the overtravel was distracting. I found a mod on a KT site about installing an overtavel screw. That fixed my issue and made the gun easier to shoot well. My son claimed it as his so I no longer have it.

    Double Star AR15

I have had 3 Double Stars. One bought as a complete rifle and two bought as carbine kit's. I've had zero issues with them. Nice solid AR's. They sell parts as www.jtdistributing.net

    Gun superstitions/phrases

From what I have read "Saturday night special" had a racist origin. It seems it IS used to describe a cheaply made gun but there is more to the story than quality. Google "Saturday night special" to find the complete phase as it was coined. (You will have to wade thru a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd –...

    AR Scope Mounting Problem

The cheapest route would be the risers. I tried both 1 piece and 2 piece risers. I just didn't like having that extra piece between the rings and base. I bought a Burris P.E.P.R. and it works great for me on my AR but I have a round free float hand guard. Dallas Jack

    trigger pins for AR-15?

Loose Noose, the problem with the screws is not them coming out but that they must remain tight. As long as they are tight against the lower they should capture the pins. The screws and the hammer springs are unrelated. If he has the trigger out look to see if the screws pass completely...

    trigger pins for AR-15?

Forgot something. You should have 4 allen screws. The first 2 screw down against the lower, the second set go on top of them to keep the first set from backing out. Dallas Jack

    trigger pins for AR-15?

The allen screws do not line up with either pin. When installing you should put the pins in first and then the allen screws. They contact the bottom of the lower reciever putting upward preasure on the pins. My WAG is that either the pins are under sized or the holes are over sized. The correct...

Anyone from the Mesquite Tx area

There are several outdoor ranges in the area also. The two nearest are Gibsons outpost in Sunnyvale, and Garland Public Shooting range in Garland. The first has pistol and rifle with 200yrd max range. The latter has pistol, rifle, and shotgun with max range of 100 yrds. There are several...

    AR15 shell deflector question

I agree with rcmodel and wriggly. It is a sprayed on finish of some kind, perhaps paint. Anodizing is a surface finish and will wear or get scratched but doesn't chip off. I put a piece of velcro on my deflector just so I didn't have to wipe off the brass residue. Dallas Jack

Is Iosco Bore Cleaner a good substitute for J-B?

I've used Iosso for some time. I mainly use it for polishing feed ramps on my pistols. Does a good job. I have used it a few times on the bores of my rifles with no complaints. Dallas Jack

    Ammo Can Usage

I took a thousand rounds out of the boxe's and dumped them in an ammo can. Grabbed my AR and ammo can on range day and found out I could not shoot that ammo there because it was FMJ. I took the ammo to a local ammo shop to trade for something I could shoot. They did not want to take it as...

    saturday night specials

I once had a 25 acp Raven just like the one "larryh1108" has. Same grips and everything. I took it to Galveston with us one year. I had a 9mm TA90 at the hotel room but carried the Raven since I could hide it in my swim trunks. I looked down the beach and saw two salty characters following...

    50mm Nikon mounting

The bases you read about with 20 MOA built in are for shooting at 1000 yards. It allows you to have more elevation adjustment by angleing the scope down in the front. With an AR type rifle high is good. Since the top of the scope is higher than the bore you have to mount the scope higher. I...

Need some advice on the gun cabinet I'm building

Looks good. I think it's too late now but a mirror in the back behind the DVD's would make it look deeper than it really is. If this is going to be free standing once you get the shelves loaded up with DVD's it may tip over when you open both doors. May not be a problem since the bottom is...

    Reming 722 yea or nay?

To me it would be a good deal. Never had a 722 but my stepdad left me his 1948 model 721 in .270 Win. I thought it was a great gun. I have already given it to my son and hope he does the same. I've had several different model Remington rifles (700 BDL, model 7, 700 LTR) and I would pick the...

Shooting for sport...Just cant do it.

I live in a suburban neighbor hood with a creeck and green belt leading to a wooded area. The critters come up from the woods and dig up my yard and spread my trash erverywere. A crafty racoon found a way into my attic. A Havahart trap with some cat food bait and he whent to the pound. The...
