little kids in the house...revolver or semi auto?

All very good responses. Thank you for the insight. I have been around guns my whole life. Was an avid hunter when I was younger, was on a rifle team, and later, on a pistol team. The firearms that I owned, and the firearms that my father owned (when I was a boy) were always unloaded...

little kids in the house...revolver or semi auto?

The OP has been around guns all his life. I have always safely locked my guns up. Perhaps the way I asked the question was lacking. What I needed to know, was how to have a gun "ready to use" in a self defense type senario at home and still keep my kids safe, as I originally planned to have...

little kids in the house...revolver or semi auto?

I do believe I have found my answer. A couple of you have stated that the gun needs to be on my person instead of in a hiding place. solves all kinds of problems! Thanks!!!!!

little kids in the house...revolver or semi auto?

Thanks for the replies! I have a 7yr old boy that is very "curious". I do try to instruct both my kids about guns, but my son is more likely to try to sneak a peek. When my boy asks to see my .22 rifle, I let him. But he has not yet made the connection between toy and potentially dangerous...

little kids in the house...revolver or semi auto?

Looking for opinions/advice. I want a home self defense pistol/revolver that is "loaded" and ready to go in a moments notice....BUT....I have small kids in the house. If one of the kiddies found the gun I would want it to be impossible for them to shoot it. I think a loaded revolver would...

    Overall quality: Ruger or S&W

This is frustrating... I thought I was going to go the S&W route when I started reading negative ink about S&W quality (on the decline etc.) What are your thoughts on the current quality of the Smith revolvers? Is Ruger any better in this department? thanks

    Opinions needed......Rossi 351?

Okay....Okay. I do not want to roll the dice. I did just get back from the local Gander Mtn. They had a S&W 640 as well as a sp101. I held them both and really fell hard for the Smith. Guess I'll save up for it! thanks for your input guys!

    Opinions needed......Rossi 351?

I need a dedicated nightstand gun. It will probably spend most of its life being bored. Anyway, I can afford a nice S&W (model 640 comes to mind); BUT, if I decide to buy something less expensive...say a Rossi 351...then I can also buy something I can actually enjoy out at the range with my...
