    Need small handgun for defense

My wife carries a 4 inch GP100 in her purse. She has too much trouble with a slide and is recoil sensitive. She finds the heavy GP100 easier to shoot with .357s than a j frame with lighter .38s. You can get purses made for guns that will let you hold something bigger than a pocket pistol, and...

My First Firearm -- My Wish List

I would suggest you look at the Blackhawk convertible. It will .38/.357 in one cylinder and 9mm in the other cylinder. Some say the 9mm is slightly less accurate, but you can use it for plinking. For HD, use .357 or .38+p. For the price of a Colt, you could have a Blackhawk and a Single...

    Enfield problem

Winger Ed, I made sure to clean it out before I went to the range the first time. The new spring was actually about a quarter of an inch shorter than the old spring, and I would guess it had been stored cocked for at least 15 years. I think everything will work now. My next step is to find a...

    which 9x18 pistol?

I voted for the P64. I have one, and it is very concealable, reliable, and accurate. I changed the springs on mine, and the DA trigger pull is much better. That said, I think the Bulgarian Makarovs are in stock and are awesome. Too bad it isn't on the list.

    Enfield problem

I figured it out, and I feel like an idiot. Like SlamFire1 surmised, I had forgotten to take the little screw out of the cocking piece so I could screw the firing pin in all the way. It works fine now. Thanks guys!

    Enfield problem

I tried turning the bolt head last night, but the pin still sticks out. I'm not a gunsmith, so I don't have the special gauge to check the length. I also noticed that the new spring is longer than the old, but I figured that was because it was stored cocked when I got it. Is it possible I rot...

    Enfield problem

I have an Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 that my grandfather gave me. He said it hadn't been fired in about thirty years, so after a passing inspection by the local gunsmith, I took it to the range and found a weak main spring. 2 out of 20 shots (Remington ammo) required a second strike to fire. I...
