I use a Lee Single Stage for decapping, a RCBS bench priming tool for priming and then a Lee 4 hole turret press for loading = $275 or so for all three
I always run an old car speaker magnet over my range brass to make sure there are no brass plated steel cases (like a lot of S&B cases are). Works like a champ.
A little off topic but I prefer to prime as a separate evolution. I use a Lee classic turret and the priming system drove me nuts. So I bought a RCBS auto bench priming tool. I usually prime up a large batch of brass at a time and can get into a real nice rhythm...
I have a full size S&W 1911 and I use 230gr FMJ (remington), lg pistol winchester primers and 5.0 gr of Bullseye (1.230 OAL). Nice snappy loads (not overly) that cycles the gun just fine. Sends nice groups downrange at 50'.
You will have better results if you you put 50 - 100 primers into the primer tray. The weight of the primers helps it to feed correctly. Not sure what your measurements of .578 and .751 are of. You do not need to worry about case size length on handgun loads (you definately need to measure on...
I just ordered one myself for my Lee breech loader. I wanted to combine the flare with the powder load step. It sure will be nice to get it down to three steps instead of four.... I see a turret/progressive in my future.
