    Why don't LGS stock. . .

Since you're in Portland, you were close enough to my LGS which had about 5 CZ-75s (might have been BDs though) in stock for a while. Willamette Valley Arms in Hillsboro had a few under the glass at $600 (I didn't notice if it was still there yesterday) for a while. A friend of mine picked one...

Really Interesting Article about Florida 'Stand Your Ground' Actual Cases

Definitely interesting! I DID run the stats manually and found that despite the accused being found "Not Guilty" more often if black, if the VICTIM is black, they have a much less chance of being found guilty. By Color of Accused: Color:Conv-Acq-Pend Conv % Black:11-24-9 31% White:25-40-11...

    Help Identifying a Magazine

It isn't the Steyr, the magazine 'hole' is completely in the center, like the Ruger. I haven't been able to find any images of a 15 round Ruger magazine with a metal base plate however, so I wonder if it is that.

    Help Identifying a Magazine

So, my local gun shop purchased a 'box o magazines' from a guy and have one magazine that they cannot figure out where it belongs! I was hoping some knowledgeable person here would have an idea. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it, though I know exactly what it looks like. Facts...

New 1911- SIG Bobtail Commander Nightmare

Very nice! I end up carrying with the flush 8 round magazine, but my spare always has the 'slam' pad on it. Despite how goofy it looks hanging out the bottom, it makes reloads a lot easier and faster for me.

    Old Faithful Holsters - Opinions?

I ended up looking into this at one point, and discovered a few guys on ebay who were selling completed (high quality seemingly) versions of this style of holster for the $30 range. I got one for my 1911 and am quite happy with it.

Unusual thing for me to do...

I've got a TCP as well! The size is fantastic (mine came with 2 mags, though it was 2nd hand), and it shoots fine. The only problem I've heard about is the trigger 'fake' reset, and that it isn't a true double-action. The trigger 'fake' reset is that when releasing the trigger after a shot...

    S&W 1911E series

Thats really weird then... All of the reviewers have said that the trigger is a 4.5# trigger. I bought mine and fresh out of the box it is less than that... I'm a little surprised you've seen _2_ with that heavy of a trigger! I almost wonder if your area just got a shipment meant for...

    S&W 1911E series

Jed: Are you sure you had the 1911Sc E-Series? The bobtail at least comes with a 4.5 lb trigger. Mine seems a little lighter than that, and is smooth as can be. Did you somehow end up with one of those foolish NYC/MA/CA compliant ones?

    S&W 1911E series

I have the 1911E Series Commander Bobtail (with the lightweight scandium frame). Despite being significantly lighter, it has a similar recoil profile to my full-size 1911, and is a pleasure to shoot. I've shot a number of pistols in my time and gotta say the E Series is my favorite.

Anyone have experience buying two guns with sequential SN?

I would definitely want to do 2 rifles. That said, a 'normal' 10/22 can be had for ~$180 (if you live near a Bi-mart, more like $220 elsewhere), which might make it easier budget wise. It seems (based on research) that the BSA model's only difference is the stock and that the serial number...

    Wanting a new 1911 thinking about S&W

Drail- I may have mis-spoke. My 1911 e-series bobtail has never had a single mechanical failure besides pushing brass straight back a few times. This was fixed with a proper hand-hold. Apparently the bob-tail allowed it to rotate further into my hand and popped brass straight back. When held...

    Wanting a new 1911 thinking about S&W

S&W will take care of tuning the extractor if you have a problem. I had the problem with my E-series bob-tail, though I had a shooting instructor tell me it was limp-wristing. Once I made sure I was gripping the pistol tight enough, the problem went away. Apparently it is a common training...

    henry goldenboy=massive fun!

I've got the non-golden version of this (the Henry Lever Action .22), and it is a fantastic rifle! My girlfriend loves the heck out of it, and shoots it more than everything else.

WTK: Best 'Smith for Threaded an Eccentric Pistol Barrel

Tornado Technologies is highly considered in the suppressor world to be the best of the best. Their lead time is pretty bad at times, but they are as good as it gets!

    Form 4 wait time?

NFATracker just shows average times, so predicting is hard. Some end up coming in higher and lower, however if you look at the trend graph, the ATF IS getting more consistent (in part, because of feedback from NFA Tracker). You are right, unfortunately a number of people abandon their...

    Form 4 wait time?

NFA Tracker is showing more like 150 days (~5 months) round trip, and the ATF seems to be improving slowly. See: http://www.nfatracker.com/TrendGraph.aspx

    M1 Garand jam

I had that when I first got my M1 about 7 years ago. I ordered a new OP Rod spring for ~5 bucks (you can find entire kits of Wolf springs on ebay for a trivial amount of money), and installing it fixed the rifle. I haven't had a single failure from it since.
