Here I fixed it to be a bit more clear.
Also don't dry fire an AR LOWER WITHOUT an UPPER ATTACHED. Hammers are steel, lowers are Aluminum.
When that steel hits the Aluminum... ouch. IT COULD CRACK THE LOWER'S MAG CATCH WALL.
With an Upper its OK because the hammer hits the firing pin before...
Really depends on the stock as most are hollow and don't leave much grace room for shaping. It also depends on the type of plastic it's made of too as you wouldn't want to shape a rubber coated Hogue stock. If your just trying to smooth out some lines, then yes you likely can but if you shape...
