    Guided Hog hunts in Texas

My son and I did one this summer, central Texas. Outfit was called Dos Plumas and they did a nice job. All you asked for excepting feeding you, but they did have a kitchen where you could feed yourselves.

    Cleaned Brass Picture Thread

Worked on some 9mm the other day. I have a Lyman tumbler, use walnut media with a mix of nu-finish car wax and a splash of mineral spirits. First pic is of pre-tumble. Second is of post tumble for one hour. Third is of finished rounds, tumbled for 20 minutes before boxing.

    45acp question

My SW 1911 doesn't particularly like swc, but it loves hornady xtp's or any other tc type bullet. I'm sure it would love rnfp also, just haven't come across them in 45 yet. Lots of good choices other than swc.

Anyone Load For a Rossi 92 in 44 Mag?

TenDriver, I just re-read your initial post and noted the powders and bullets you have. I haven't tried any of those powders with 44 mag. Instead I've used 2400, unique and power pistol primarily. I've used cast lead from Dardas, MBC and lazercast, and xtps, in addition to the extreme plated...

Anyone Load For a Rossi 92 in 44 Mag?

I have one and it's become my favorite shooter. I made a few tweaks to it, such as replaced the safety with a ghost ring site, refinished the wood and changed out the extractor spring (if memory serves). This last really helped with the cycling, but has the effect of ejecting empties right on...

.45 Reloading Question. I need a problem solved.

Some will go as low as 1.250 with fmj 230 grain ball but don't go that low with max loads unless your manual specifically gives that as oal. Going shorter will maybe help some but it's not all of what's going on. Try this, take a round that looks like the second from right and roll it on a...

.45 Reloading Question. I need a problem solved.

The second round from the right has the bullet seated a little crooked. I had this problem with my rcbs die set. I bought a Lyman m die and this helped tremendously with the seating concentricity. Seating to 1.260 should be considered. 1.275 is max. so you could try a bit shorter. Also use a lee...

    rem 1100 trigger advice needed

Well I played with it some more and took it out hunting today and observed a few things. First the trigger has some side to side slop and is not crisp. It also feels pretty heavy, like maybe in the eight pound range. Here's what I think has happened. The trigger has the side slop and when...

    rem 1100 trigger advice needed

Hello all, I've managed to get an 1100 that was made in the early 70s and it appears to be lightly used. It does have some ding marks on the trigger guard. My issue is that when pulling the trigger back and to the right it will completely lock it up, but if I pull back and to the left it will...

    M1 Garand @ 200

What I would recommend is to go to a CMP event. You can use your own rifle and ammo, but what is cool is that they take you through about two hours of instruction and then you get to shoot, pull targets and spot for someone else. It's a fantastic introduction to high power competition.

Does anyone else video record their handload results?

I will video various powders when I'm at an indoor range to see how much muzzle flash each will produce. It's almost startling how different each powder can be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njzIx_6Fj4g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1EEFMvAsJk

I bought a pound about 2 years ago, used half and gave the rest away. It didn't have any blue "dots" or flakes.

9 mm brass will not fully resize

Redding carbide. They are brand spanking new. These are the very first cases I've ran through them. Anything not Blazer sized up just fine, otherwise this was the result.

9 mm brass will not fully resize

Here's a pic of (top) Blazer brass that I resized this morning with a brand new set of Redding dies. The bottom case is R-P. My guess is that the CCI/FC group of cases is so thin at the web that they are expanding substantially, and that may be what's at play, or at least some of the issue...

    Powder question ?

I think your selection of powders is fine. The only thing I would recommend is to get a slower powder(s) for your 357 mag, and I would proudly recommend 2400 for that.

How do you judge accuracy of handgun reloads?

mboe794 "I was hitting an old laptop computer at 50 or 60 yards with 8 out of 10 rounds in with my latest 9mm reloads. Rested on a picnic table. I'm calling that good." I'm calling that AWESOME!!! What a perfect use for a laptop.

    .357 mag, .45 colt,44mag in a lever gun

+1 on the 44 mag. I use this on mine to dampen recoil. With the kick killer installed it's pleasant enough that my wife and kids shoot it.
