Ruger Gunsite Scout 308, any top loading mags?

I just bought the Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle in 308 with the composite stock from Sportsman’s Warehouse and just love it. Been to the range and it’s more accurate than I am with the iron sights. I like the 2 ten round mags that came with the rifle and I plan to get more. I’m thinking of...

Biden says EO is on the table...

Obama will probably do what George HW Bush did when he banned foreign imports of semiautomatic rifles. Not exactly an Executive Order, but the same effect. And Obama will say, "what's the big deal? Bush did it.".

The .38/.357 is ideal isn't it???

"The .38 Special...... similar to a .380..." I beleive that's incorrect, but I'll leave it to the experts.

Newbie asks: how often should I clean my 1911?

For a 1911, I would remove and clean the extractor and firing pin and clean the channels as part of a field strip/cleaning. I always check the extractor for tension and wear or damage. My 1911's are my defensive handguns. I don't want to find out that the extractor turned into limp noodle...

Throw out some 9mm suggestions for my wife.

I got my wife a use Glock 19 (2nd gen) with night sites and it's perfect for her. She also has a Ruger SP101 .357 mag with 2.25 barrel and spurless hammer, if anyone needs a suggestion for a revolver for a woman. The nice thing about these choices is that I like shooting them too.

My other half says I have enough guns...

Oh, and don't forget the Ammo. Buy it cheap and stack it deep!

My other half says I have enough guns...

It depends on how much money you have and what your other household needs are. If your broke and on a budget, you can get by with what you have. If you still have discretionary income to invest in safety and security, then buy more. At least a AR15, 308 with detachable mag (FAL or...

2nd concealed carry person on scene

I had a CCW instructor suggest that "Please don't shoot" said quickly and loudly can sound a lot like "Police, don't shoot". He said that impersonating an officer in a situation like that would be a hard charge to make stick.

Is a handgun enough for home defense?

Shotguns are great but it's hard to predict where every pellet will go. What's that saying? "Pretend every bullet has a lawyer attached".

Is a handgun enough for home defense?

My 1911, but if I have time, the AR15 too. I live in a big house. Plenty of room to wield a carbine.

    All steel, all black P226?

Come to think of it, I've seen stainless frames with cast stainless steel slides, but not with stamped carbon slides. So I guess that would be a find.

    All steel, all black P226?

http://www.cybershooters.org/dgca/sig-sauer_p226.htm Well, I guess there is such a model. Good luck finding one. I've seen the stainless unfinished versions, but never a black coated stainless framed one.

    All steel, all black P226?

What makes you think the frame is steel and not AL alloy? I'm not an expert but I never heard of what you describe. It looks like a German stamped steel "slide" to me with the regular alloy frame. If that is the case it is not that rare, altough they are often preferred to the cast...

    Prices on ARs

I hadn't heard that, but if so it might be a good time to pick up another AR. What brands and what vendors have you noticed this of?

Do Cold Steel Knives live up to the Hype?

I don't know about their "crappy" or "expensive" lines, but for $70 delivered off ebay you can't complain about the Recon Tanto. I especially think that the 2010 Recon 1 folder's are a great deal for $60 delivered or ebay. The Cold Steel stuff I've bought recently is sharp, tough as a tank...

Do Cold Steel Knives live up to the Hype?

Zoogster, thank you for that well reasoned explanation. As carrying a defensive knife for me is a back up to my CCW firearm or something to have if someone pulls a gun in close quarters in a "gun free zone" where I am otherwise unarmed, my knife usage would be in only the most extreme life...
