SRH 454 Casull light primer strike problem....

In my experience, the CCI primers are very hard. I had several misfires in my SRH .454 also. When I switched to Winchester primers, the problem went away. Federal primers are also softer than the CCI primers.

Very strange .44 magnum load result

If I remember, CBC brass is made in Brazil. Their brass alloys and tolerances may not be compatible with your dies. I would suggest new Starline or Federal brass to put together some new loads. I have used this brass with Lee dies for over 30 years with no problems at all. I seat all bullets...

In my experience, the Federal SRP are a little softer, and easier to ignite in a pistol. I used the CCI 400s...

    Conversion barrel ?

Oh yea.... I forgot to mention one more thing. The muzzle blast from this bad boy is unreal. Even with $100.00 muffs on, I flinched every time my buddy pulled the trigger. It was the loudest hardest CRACK I have ever heard from a handgun. Without ear protection, there is no doubt in my mind that...

    Conversion barrel ?

The .40 super is a high pressure bottlenecked cartridge developed by now defunct Triton Ammunition Co. Basically, it's a .45 super case, using a small pistol primer, necked down to shoot .40 bullets at velocities higher than the 10mm can safely go. The idea of only needing to swap barrels, to...

Ammonia based solvents hard on barrel?

In addition to the excellent comments above, I would mention that you should try to avoid prolonged ammonia contact with the stock (if it's wood). It may not harm the finish, but I would not risk it. Also, as stated above, there are now less chemically aggressive, but just as effective...
