thanks for the advice, as I don't plan on "kicking in doors" , I think I'll get a 500.

I heard somewhere that the Mossberg 590 is more durable than the 500. Could someone explain the differences to me? Is it the internals, or purely external? Or is the 500 just as durable? Should I even worry about it?
