Larry Vickers & Ken Hackathorn on the HK45

I'm not defending HK. I just thought it was an interesting interview and I posted it here. don't even own an HK45. I'm just amazed that anyone would question these two people's "motives" as you put it.

Larry Vickers & Ken Hackathorn on the HK45

It's awesome how so many guys on THR know more than a guy who was in charge of product testing and acquisition for Delta Force, and a former Special Forces operator who is currently an FBI SWAT and HRT instructor. I also had no idea that people who consult gun manufacturers receive royalty...

Larry Vickers & Ken Hackathorn on the HK45

If you don't know who LAV and KH are, you're wrong. Here's the whole transcript... http://pistol-training.com/articles/hk45-interview-with-ken-hackathorn-and-larry-vickers Here's a short excerpt... Todd: How would you compare the HK45 to a top-quality custom 1911? Ken: You’ve got a...

    Browning Hi-power thoughts?

As a range gun or a collectors piece, they're great. As a carry/home-defense weapon, you could do a lot better, especially if you don't plan on investing in some gunsmith work out of the box. There are many more modern designs that have surpassed the BHP in the reliability/durability department...

There's a difference between lethality and stopping power.

    FBI STATS 380 vs 9mm vs 357 vs 40 vs 45

Per Massad Ayoob: It is impossible to quantify stopping power. There's no national data base that provides enough detail about police shootings to even begin to evaluate them fairly. FBI statistics do not ask if the persons being shot were male or female? Young or old? Big or small? Jacked up on...

    H&K Barrel Life

The "20,000 round" barrel life HK provides in the manual is a VERY conservative estimate. Here's an HK45 endurance test that's about to hit 50,000 rounds with ZERO barrel-related issues. The test is sanctioned by HK (they paid for the ammo) and the pistol will be on display at the 2011 SHOT...

    Streamlight Question

When you put your light on, you have to turn the screw a few twists which takes all of a few seconds. If you plan on doing it when you hear a bump in the night, however, it probably would take longer. Your best bet is to either put the light on the gun when you go to bed, and take it off when...

    Glock kaBooms

^^^This I'd be shocked if there were more than a handfull of cases where Glocks actually KB'd using quality factory ammo (except possibly something like +P+ Buffalo Bore).

    Opinions of the HKp2000sk

Yep^^ The grip on the P2KSK is significantly thinner. In fairness though, the G26 fits in the same holster that I posted above, and they both conceal identically. You can't even feel a difference when it's on your waist. In terms of comfort in your hand, however, it's no contest.

    Opinions of the HKp2000sk

The P2KSK is BAD ASS. I have both it and the Glock 26, and the HK blows it out of the water. It's way more comfortable/ergonomic, and slightly thinner. The V1 LEM is the best non-1911 trigger in the business IMHO, and the P2KSK was designed around that trigger variant. I rotate between it and a...

New guy looking for advice on CCW.

Bill does have an FFL. I've used him several times. Nevertheless, if I were you I would trade my V3 for a V2 and then convert it to V1. The Light LEM is the best trigger on the market short of a good 1911. Besides, trading a P2K for a Glock would be a crime against humanity.
