    The AR Platform Has Won

The 30-06 Springfield won to, because it was what there was vastly the most of , lots served and used it and got dumped on market, copied etc and was cheap to buy. Eventually people moved on an made better guns (nothing to take away form the 06 but there were better options) AR is only...

    AR Trigger Upgrades, Worth it?

I have fired the ARs and their triggers suck (standard AR triggers). I dislike the ergonomics of the ung as well (and yes I own one), but compared to an XCR they suck. That said, I also got to shoot an AR with a Giesele trigger and compare it to my RRA two stage Match in Chrome (and...

    Compact 9mm's

I do not consider a 4 inch barrel a compact (CZ P07 or my Sig SP2022 to be un-biased) . Those would be mid frame.

    best 9mm? for the price?

I disagree on the first part totally. Unsupported recommendation without supporting it reasoning yes, but recommendations are good. If new you get familiar with what is out there and you see a consensus on which ones are the top ones. Second I agree fully with. Here is how I...

Why are 1911 triggers so revered?

+ True, it is one sweet trigger, scary if you have been shooting other stuff, it fires just thinking about it.

Why are 1911 triggers so revered?

A single action trigger in a 1911 Semi Auto is a pure design. It has no compromises trying to do more than one thing, which is let off the sear to fire the gun. (note a Revolver is a different beast and the Colt Python was the finest example of hos smooth and sweet a Revolver DA could be)...

    Cheap but reliable 9mm platform?

Sig SP2022 at Nelson Tactical for $379 It has all the traditional Sig quality at a reasonable price, accurate, reliable and handles very well.

Which SIGs have smoothest DA/SA trigger?

Interesting as what got me the SP2022 (blind buy as non available to test at that time in town) was handling and shooting my brothers P220. Pretty much fine with the DA on the SP2022 and the SA is better than the HK P30 I have shot. DA may be better as well.

good hi cap pistol under $400 cant spend more than that.

Sig SP2022. Half the cost and every bit as good as the high price gun (HK , Sigs etc ). Very accurate and reliable. Nelson Tactical Non night sight, only one magazine. $379 http://www.nelsontactical.com/shopping/sig-sauer-sp2022-9mm-e20229b-p-1259.html This one is sold out...

Joint Combat Pistol Program: what would you have picked?

SIg SP2022 would be my other choice. It was picked by Army Tank Command whoever they are! No idea if it would pass the test but throw it into the ring. They aren't going to change, not worth it and budget cuts (Admirals and Generals need their bennies first so why woluld you risk it?)

    Remington 550-1 Date

I have looked at the chart and it makes no sense as it puts the date of mfg before the gun was made. A friend passed this one onto me before he died, trying to find out its value. The relevant dates code seems to be r B 27. Also any value ideas, its in excellent shape. Possibly get a...

    Hornady A-max bullet

Me too, I realized too late and hoped no one would notice (though in my case first loads I have done, have shot them my brother has done, liked them)

    Hornady A-max bullet

Not sure what to think, they do appear to go up normal enough not to cant over. They have to be tilting. I am only seating them in it, not crimping. Would go with separate crimp die like you if I did. I was going to try the BLC-2 powder to start with, could not find it in this...

    HELP...1st time loading 44Mag.

When I was loading 41 and 44 magnum, 2400 was the best powder. I ran tests on the other ones, day in day out it was accurate and least pressure issues even with hot loads (it would not jump over the line suddenly)

    Hornady A-max bullet

I'll tag onto this one with a question (not trying to Hi Jack. Just getting back to re-loading after 25 years hiatus, now have a .223/5.56 carbine. Found some V Max 60 gr, during loading, some of them tore bits of plastic off the tip. Looking at the die I can see lots of room for a...

Explain the piston system to me...

Yep, if you want a real piston, get an XCR! (well and a few other so so offering like an AK, SCAR or ACR) Otherwise, for the non combat environment, if you don't mind the AR controls, the AR DI is fine (and some nice accurate guns I may add)

Explain the piston system to me...

Really really bad bad uninformed comparison. The J20 is a non fighting prototype. Any in service version is at least 10 years away. Anything effective (vs just flying) is 20 years out. It also is not even remotely close to an F22 in radar signature or engines (let alone the network...

Beaten down by the "Same-old, Same-old"

Shoot (grin) have fun with the 8mm! Me, when I was hunting, it was always a scramble to get enough hand loads for the trip plus a bit of practice. One day I found I did not have what I thought, bought some factory ammo. I practiced as usual, and it was as accurate as what I had come up...

    AR Iron Sights

There is a front sight tool, probably there is a spring release on yours (not into the ARs but I did have that on an aftermarket site for the XCR and the sight was for an AR gas block. In my case I used a needle nose pliers and released the spring latch with a small pin. Tool is better...

    MAK-90 prices

So, what you are saying is that they cannot import the materials they need if they don't have it? As I recall they do not have a lot of oil. What more they need they import. Of course they take our cars, they have no pollution controls and its a great source of good metals. Now, how...
