    .22 buckmark problem??

What do you mean "no go"? Do you mean it doesn't feed right? Or do you mean that the firing pin strikes, but it does not ignite the primer? If it is the first, you have a magazine spring problem. Look for Wolff Springs. Can't help with the second. The Buckmark is also a semi-automatic pistol.

    playin' poker with Doc Holiday

Now I have read that the 1860 Colt Army revolvers - which Hickock occasionally used - were about the power of .38 Specials (+p). Now that was a .45 caliber ball with seven more grains of power (35 grains) than the 1851 Navy's. Any black powder types here?

    playin' poker with Doc Holiday

That is why there were so few fair fights recorded. Now those revolvers of Hickock's were about as powerful as .380 ACPs - though with a better site radius. It was recorded that he was ambushed by three men, the first that caught his attention was 75 yards away. Bill shot him dead in the...

    playin' poker with Doc Holiday

One thing that set Wild Bill Hickock and Hardin appart from others was not just sheer skill, but a willingness to defend themselves when needed. You can train all the time, but that unhesitating mindset might not be ingrained. They had seen the elephant enough times to not only know what to...

I'm sorry, I had meant the majority of K-frame snubbies.

    Value of S&W m19 3 inch?

A true 3" barrel? I thought the majority of the snubbies were 2-1/2" barrel.

    Are thigh holsters better?

If you are wearing heavy body armor, it pushes anything on your belt out or covers the belt. So the thigh is the way to go. It is more likely to snag, I think. But if you are about to serve a warrent on a violent criminal or are in another SWAT situation, it isn't so great a concern. I...

    Unrepairable Python

Get on Guns America, Auction Arms, or Gun Broker and see what a Python is going for. If it is at a comparable price, jump on it. I got my Python for about seven bills last year. But Colts are going up in price fast. In my area of the world, last year Colt Troopers were going for the same...

    Browning Hi-Power .40SW Durability

Stephen A. Camp, with his site on HiPowers has a nice comparison of the 9x19 vs. .40 S&W HiPowers. Other sources also say that the .40 S&W version is much beefed up, for a small loss of balance. The frames and slides are stronger than the previous HiPowers. He also uses heavier than spec...

    Charles Daly Pistols

The parts aren't HiPower, as in made by Fabrique Nationale. They are sized the same though, so they are parts compatible. I've handled some and own the FEG version. Browning HiPowers weren't known for perfect triggers out of the box, so that shouldn't be a huge impediment. It should wear...

Please educate me on the Hi-Power

The HiPower has been used by military and police forces all over the world, in the hundreds, for decades. The sidearm of choice for the SAS for some time. Those boys don't play around. You can always get some heavier Wolff springs for the heavier +p stuff, as well as a Shok-buf thingy. The...

    What’s with Beretta ?

Sure departments have switched from Beretta to other brands - and the opposite is true. Not all departments stayed with Glock either. How many different issue guns has the FBI used in the last 30 years? But the big agencies, especially ones like the Border Patrol which has a fair amount of...

Tips for first time at the range

If you shoot out in the desert, you can make a stand out of PVC tubing and juctures that can be taken apart. You just need a sheet of cardboard (side of box) to staple the targets to and there are a couple of pieces of wood to hold up the cardboard. There are probably designs on the internet.
