Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Very nice data safe bruzer, you are definitely well covered. That also has to keep the humidity level below 85% right so it has dry insulation just like Sturdy Safe uses (do you know what that inner liner is constructed of btw?)

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Well the Twin Towers where still smoldering weeks after they collapsed so size, mass, constructing materials as well as other factors effect how long it will take to cool down. A multilevel dwelling with a cellar that collapses in on itself will hold it's heat for days as I've seen first hand...

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Thank you for posting the link keizer, I think it speaks volumes for the kind of company Sturdy Safe is and makes me even more convinced to buy from them in the future. In the story, where the Sturdy safe 'failed miserably' it was exposed to burning embers for 3 to 4 days. UL only rates safes to...

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

It took a while but I found that thread again. I have the engineer's name and number from UL and I will give him a call Monday (although I'm sure he has better things to do.) UL subjects the safes to a "cool down" period where after the active testing phase is completed the furnace is shut...

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Even a UL 350 rating may not be enough to prevent the damage caused to the guns in the Graffunder safe. As you know a1abdj, most of these gun safe companies are using gypsum board for fire protection; it as well as a concrete cast insulation may keep the temperature below 350F but if the net...

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Here's some pictures from Graffunder themselves to show how effective their fire protection is in a modest fire. And, I'm not saying Graffunder doesn't make great gun safes because they certainly are at the top of the list IMO but I do think they can do better on fire protection. Note in the...

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

Really no surprise the same adjectives are used to describe these gun safes companies. Although, when you're talking REAL thick steel you are certainly describing Graffunder and when you're talking REAL fire resistance in a gun safe there aren't any better than Sturdy.

    Winchester safe/RSC @TSC

A safe salesmen from another site bought one of those and beat it up with a sledge to show that the seams were just stitch welded, it took him less than 3 minutes to separate the top of that Winchester gun safe. I'm not saying that the Cannon is a whole lot better but the tolerances are...

    Winchester safe/RSC @TSC

From what I've heard and seen, that particular RSC is very cheaply made. Liberty, Cannon and Dakota make better RSCs in that price range.

    Sturdy Safe Company

I am so impressed with this company and the products they produce. It's too bad that this industry is full of folks that give self serving advice to mislead consumers away from a great company like Sturdy Safe simply to make a sale.

    Sturdy Safe Company

Wow awesome safe Walkalong!! I so want to pull the trigger and try to get one with 5ga while it's still available as you have done. From the research I've done, no one can pry that safe open. That door frame is a beast. Congrats, I'm so envious.

    Bank vault door

Wow, Ultra that door is incredible! See if that store might want to get rid of it cheap if you'll pay for the cost to have it removed.

Wow heeler, if ever a guy needed to be told he should have a TL rated safe, it was that guy.

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

I think he was just showing that all RSC aren't created equal and especially the Chinese made junk you can buy at Costco. Yes he sells Liberties, Graffunders and several others so he has a biased opinion as I would expect of anyone who is in the business. He doesn't seem to have a lot of good...

Here's a quote from the safe dealer/expert (snopczynski) who did the demo and took the pictures:

Please help me select my first safe (and by safe I mean RSC)!

I don't want to cause any hard feelings here but I think some of you guys considering buying that Winchester safe at Costco should see how cheaply it is made. A safe dealer on another site bought one of those and just beat on it with a sledge hammer to illustrate that the welds are just stitched...

    Gun Safe Question(s)

garjin6423, I agree with your opinion of Sturdy. I spoke with the owner a while back over the phone and he impressed me with his insight and knowledge; he also didn't steer me into buying his safe either, we just had a great conversation on what to be looking for in a safe. He even told me if...

    Gun Safe Question(s)

Good advice heeler, those are far superior gun safes for not a lot more money and American made too.

    Gun Safe Question(s)

Well I'm not a safe salesman but I agree with the others here and their advice. Cannon makes a much better safe in the price range and with a better warranty also it won't have Chinese Sheetrock (I.e., the possibility of sulfur fumes).

    Cannon gun safe opinions?

I agree with the others here: probably best for keeping the smash and grab guys out but not going to hold off a determined attack for very long if some basic tools are involved; also, not much by way of fire protection on the Patriot. I can say what did impress me of the Cannon safes I saw the...
