Knife makers in pigeon forge area

Newman Smith at the Smith's Shop on the Craft Loop does some beautiful work. He made my father a custom Mastodon Ivory and Damascus gentleman's folder and generally has some very nice slip joints in the shop. link to his page below. http://www.gatlinburgcrafts.com/the_smiths.html

How many magazines do you like to have for a given gun? Why?

More mags is never enough, I only have two for my pocket carry gun but I have 8 mags for my 1911 and 11 30rnd mags for my AR + 2 20s.

    strobe lights?

I have a cousin who is a parole officer, and he carries a streamlight PT2AA that we gave him for Christmas. He's told me that several times he's found an absconding parolee in a closet and he has used the lights strobe function to disorient them. He says that it disorients them just enough for...

How many rounds through your Mossberg 88?

My old scout camp has used an 88 as the 12 ga clays loaner for years, it must get 5,000 rounds every summer, and it has held up for years

Fall Knob Creek MG show review

I went this year, it was my second trip. You definitely see things there that you wont see anywhere else. I'm definitely planning on going again, especially because I saw some great deals on 5.56 reloading supplies.

    Just Ordered an ESEE Junglas

I love my junglas and found quite a good bit of use for it clearing brush on my grandmothers property. After quite a bit of hacking it was still razor sharp.

    Knob Creek machine gun shoot.

I'll post a re-cap of my experience tomorrow but seeing as how I've gotten about three hours of sleep in the last two days I need to get some rest first.

Opinions on 5.56 ammo types and uses for each

+1 on not using the tracers, my dad set our hill into a small brush fire with them by accident, not fun to put out btw, only put them into a dirt berm if you ever use them.

    gun fashion faux pas

While I will admit that most of these things are dead give aways to those of us in the gun community, with the exception of firearm company branded clothing items, what member of the general population is going to look at a vest, or a fanny pack and automatically think "GUN!" before i was aware...

Is the USA a mini Somalia?

I base my views on firearms on the advice of a British man, "Be Prepared"- Lord Robert Baden-Powell founder of the Boy Scout movement. Notice that doesn't say what to be prepared for. I'm prepared for a fun day at the range, I'm prepared to hunt for my food, I'm prepared to protect my...

    Very low velocity .223 rounds?

What about one of those modified .223 shells that you put a shotgun primer in and shoot .22 air gun ammo? Id say that would be fine for a rabbit or similar sized game. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=593401

American Classic II in American Handgunner magazine

I just bought one on monday, and while I haven't shot it yet, in feel and build quality it feels like a much higher dollar 1911.

This seems like a safe place to train.

I'm just blown away at some of the stupidity in that, if I ever found myself in a class like that I would walk out immediately.

    Hornady Z-max bullets

In the prepper community, zombies are a metaphore for the absolute worst case situation one could be in, if you are ready for zombies then you are ready for anything. I think this zombie ammo is stupid too, but it is an effieient marketing ploy, and now that I know they have it in 30-30, i might...

    Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum recoil?

The only 6 inch gp 100 I've ever shot was magnaported, that being said, it is more than manageable, and well handling in moving and shooting drills while practicing for self defense.

    Awkward College Roommate

Sam is exactly right. I was in your position around this time last year, except I waited much too long to get out. I always left for the weekend, and one Monday I came back to find that he LET the campus PD search our room, and by a stroke of luck they didn't find his stash, which he hid under...
