    Tweaking a New Pietta 1851 36 Navy

The Pietta .36 Navy I purchased a few years back had the same issues. The cylinder didn't line up with the hammer down and the chambers were too small. The bolt had to be thinned and filed to allow it to go deeper in the frame and into the cylinder to fix the timing issues, and it now locks up...

Sorry, we can't ship this to you.

I may be wrong but at one time I thought Illinois did not consider black powder stuff to be considers as firearms? May have changed in the past few years and I didn't keep up. I live "down state" and have had cap n ball pistols sent to the front door USPS. Cabela's just needed a photo copy of...

    Need help from Illinois Pards

I have purchased several cap and ball pistols and have all been mailed to my front door no problem. Some sellers want your foi card and drivers license photo copy on their files, but some don't. As far as Chicago,[mainly Cook county] I don't know, rules change quickly up there. A cap n ball...

    Thanks for the civility

Duelist, Sir, keep on with the videos! You have shown stuff I may never otherwise get to see. I enjoyed the ROA, and probably will never own one, but you showed how they shoot. Thank you sir. Those that hide behind keyboards and get free warm fuzzy puting someone else down.......well what...

    is this odd?

My 51 Navy came as a kit and the date was stamped into the raw frame casting and the usual Pietta logo on the barrel. However as soon as the "kit" was finished, the numbers and logo's had all been filed away.:what::D

    Using Tru Oil - Help

Tru-Oil does tend to shrink some. Sometime sanding scratches can re-appear after time, when you could have sworn the piece was sanded absolutely smooth. If you have the patience use the Tru-Oil like the others have suggested and build up several thin coats, probably using more coats than you...

What is the first gun you ever puchase or received

First gun given to me by my father in 1964 was an old Hoban .22 boys rifle. They kinda looked like a small Mauser replica with the bolt action and front band to hold on the fore piece. Still in the back of the gun cabinet.

    Exercise recommendation?

Wow, I was really impressed there for a minute. :what::D I cast my own balls for my black powder guns and do similar arm exercises with bags of cast balls. Helps when shooting the 4-1/2 lb Walker one handed. :D

Illinois = no rights at all

Kingcreek, you realize the problem, Chicago ways of thinking are not the same as the rest of us downstaters. Since 1968, we have understood that an intruder needs to be in the action of entering, and should leave enough evidence on the inside of the home as not to be able to testify against the...

    Walmart wants to know

Twice lately I purchased some 9mm Winchester 115g FMJ from two different Walmarts and they ask "is this for a handgun?" when checking out after handing them my F.O.I.D. card.:scrutiny: When asked, they say the computor is asking the question. What happens if I say "no?" :neener:

    "American Guns" TV show.....

Is it just me or can't we get a good look at anything with all their "duck and weave" camera work. Very frustrating. Kinda like selling used cars...........at night.........while it's raining..........from across the street. Just my tired old eyes supose.

what is a good age to start BP shooting?

My dad started teaching me around 6-7 years old how to shoot and how to handle a firearm, the first shot taken was with a .30 cal carbine. BP had to wait until understanding and ability to load the rifle that came with age and experience. I think IF a child shows interest and aptitude for it...
