    Marlin 39m original golden?

Underside of pistol grip...right where the lever closes, if memory serves.

The Savage Weather Warrior mystery continues ....

I can't believe they want you to pay the shipping fee to send it in. I had been kicking around the whole Savage idea, but I don't do business with companies that do business that way. Don't do any business with Nikon anymore because of it.

    Rimfire at 100 yards?

I shoot clay pigeons at 130 with my 39A. Pretty sweet rig. Using bulk federal ammo and iron sights, btw.

AR-15 Rifle good idea for a minor?

Maybe an AR isn't the BMW of rifles to me so I just don't see it the same way. Questioning your status as a gun lover is not a personal attack. If you are going to get all bent out of shape because I don't consider people who refer to magazines as "clips" and who call AR's "tactical assault...

AR-15 Rifle good idea for a minor?

Furthermore, if you aren't questioning caliber, why suggest a .22? Probably not a 10/22, though, being semi-auto...right?

AR-15 Rifle good idea for a minor?

    AR's don't take clips either...gun lover.

AR-15 Rifle good idea for a minor?

First, the posts on legality are unfounded. This kid already indicated it would be in his grandfather's gun safe. That leads me to believe that either his grandfather or parents would actually purchase the gun. None of you had guns when you were kids? Come on. When I was a kid I had several...

I like both, but I like the Marlin a little better.

    mosin scope mount

I put one on a Mosin for a guy about a year ago. It wasn't a modded shotgun one, but rather one that mounted right to the forward part of the receiver. It was round, and had six holes in it (you had to tap the receiver 6x to mount it.) Worked really well.

    700 SS 5r Milspec

Also, have any of you hunted with them? I realize they aren't a good choice for trekking through the woods, but in terms of being a good "stand gun", I would think they'd be great.

    700 SS 5r Milspec

Nice! I can pick one up locally for $999 + 6%...online the best I'm seeing is similar, but no tax ($15 xfer fee.) Will 150's work well in a 11.25 twist?

Remington SPS = poor quality control...

You're shooting cloverleaf's and aren't happy? I'd put up with the chamber roughness (it will break in with use) and just be glad you have an accurate rifle. As far as the trigger goes, who cares? If you're the type that was willing to put on a new stock right off, replacing the trigger with...

    700 SS 5r Milspec

I think I've got my next rifle picked out, but I'm not 100%. Anybody with any firsthand experience with these rifles, feel free to chime in. I've read of people experiencing 1/2 MOA groups, in general. This leads me to question the QC on these particular models. Does Remington take greater...

Old A5 16 Gauge... is it a good idea to restore? or leave alone

Leave it as is if you EVER plan to get rid of it. If you intend to use it for hunting and such but never get rid of it, I don't have any problem with people restoring bluing (sp?) or stocks.

    .204 vs. 22-250 vs. 220 swift

You're going to need something that's pretty heavily constructed to make sure you're not blowing up small game like rabbits. IN GENERAL, a .204 and a .22-250 will be firing relatively thinly jacketed bullets. The .204 doesn't have as many options for more heavily constructed bullets as the .22...
