    Browning A5 Light 12 range report ...

The cap was screwed on tight! I received the gun (long term loan) with a crack already in place... previously "hammered." :) Ed

    Browning A5 Light 12 range report ...

I feel your pain! This was previously repaired with Gorilla Glue, epoxy, etc. Didn't reinforce it though... Shot it once this weekend. I need a new one! Ed

Need info on A5 Light 12 Japanese

I shot an early (1935'ish, Polychoke, long-term loaner from my brother) A5 12ga. for the first time today. Wow, I really like this gun. 24 in skeet first time out- but a cracked forend that I need to re-repair benched it for my 1100. After shooting the A5 the 1100 felt a little less "great."...

    Stoeger 2000 or Franchi I-12?

Besides price, I'm thinking the major differences are: country of manufacture Turkey vs. Italy; weight - Franchi is a little heavier(?); Franchi looks to have a more comfortable recoil pad if that matters. The Franchi will probably retain a little more value as Stoeger's generally seen as a...

    1100 Feeding problem

You can remove the trigger assembly and check the latch at the front of it - essentially the 1100 is a single shot with a shell operated (triggering) mechanism - for lack of a proper description... The action will stay open unless/until the shell being forced from the magazine bumps the latch...

Post your S/S and O/U pictures

Fiberoptic front sights on a shotgun?

I never used one until recently. It makes a huge difference for me for night skeet. Without the fiberoptic I would miss 5-8 birds at night on a poorly lit skeet field. With the HiViz (magnetic) bead I'm back to normal. Apparently my peripheral vision doesn't pick up the barrel in the bad or...

    Ejection Port Flash?

My 1100 does it - even with factory loads. My son will comment when we shoot night trap or skeet. That's why we wear eye protection! I still have a piece of some kind of tiny shrapnel in my thigh from shooting a reload about a dozen years ago in trap. It must have come out from the bottom...

What Choke Do Most Use for Trap?

Tom, thanks for the tip (I really like simple tips like that...usually makes a big difference!) I thought the Rem Game loads were ok... 1oz.@1290fps ??? I also shoot skeet with the 8's...I buy them (cheap $2.98 at Walmart) because I support mine AND my son's shooting habit. I'm looking for...

    just got a 1300

The 1300 action will open if you maintain back pressure ie. pull the forend towards your body, when pulling the trigger. The 870 won't (at least the one's I've tried) - you need to release back pressure slightly (recoil usually does just that). If your friend is used to pulling the gun firmly...

What Choke Do Most Use for Trap?

I shoot Mod at 16-20yds and smoke 'em with Rem Game loads 7 1/2's or crush them with 8's. Shot my first 25 in recent history last night, too! Thought I was on my way to 50 straight but missed #43 and 44 :( Ed

Here's One Piece of Advice, Kid...

    1. SEE the target 2. Move the gun. This one cures spastic flinches.

    just got a 1300

I bought one of those for my son (though he's never used it) a few months ago. I like it! I replaced the rock hard recoil pad with a limbsaver slip on, added a Hi-Viz spark bead from Walmart, and installed one of these: http://www.tommortonandcompany.com/poormagrecre1.html I've shot lots...

    Trap Range Venting

You are not alone! My son and I joined an instructor and his student for a round of skeet at Bull Run. Instructor was pretty vocal about my "hunting gun" (Win 1300 pump - though I don't hunt) and offered some free advice to my son about pointing his gun too far back to the house. We both...

Problems shooting cheap ammo in my Rem 11-87

The "Official" Remington line on min. charge is 3dr. 1 1/8 oz. I have always successfully used 2 3/4, 1 1/8oz as long as the action is clean. Once in a while I'll get a stovepipe using Fed Top Gun. Probably just coincidence. Ed

    How to get started?

I have a $170 credit at a local gunshop that I need to use. I'm very interested in shooting a BP revolver. Just plinking or target shooting with my son. What's needed to get started and what's a typical outlay for a useful setup? Since this has surely already been covered a steer would be...

    Poor man's recoil reducer??

Yup, I'm new to O/U's and never shot a 20ga. before, but my scores are at least as good! I bought the 20 to see if I could head off a flinch I experienced after a busy day with the 12ga. about a month ago. So far so good. I've been buying bulk of whatever's on hand in light target - so far...

    Poor man's recoil reducer??

Nico, that's the one. My concern is having that weight beating on the magazine and breaking something. Can you tell if it actually make contact at either end of the stroke? I'm guessing you have to cut the original spring, yes? Otherwise, it sounds like it's worth a try. Thanks for the...
