Very simple. Apply pressure with your thumb on the side with the ball while turning the screw with a driver. Then just grab the screw keep pulling and turning.

Swathdiver, actually back around 1972 when the ROAs with brass frames sold, they only were around $189-$200 for the complete gun. Hard to believe just the grip frames sell now, when you can find, them for $325-$400+.
Mike
Guess I didn't understand your question. The grips sell for $38 a pair from Altamont.
I thought you were making a joke about buying the guns for $38
Maybe I am still confused with your question.
"Is that the price for the grips themselves or with the gun too?"
No offense intended...
Grips
Fogg, these grips are from Altamont, they make them for most types of Ruger frames. Very inexpensive.
These grips are $38 a pair

Sorry Fogg64 your right, 43 I feel so much younger now:)
The grip frames were bought off the Ruger forum and Ebay. I have been collecting them for several years, I have enough for a few more custom guns coming up.
Just keep watching the brass frames pop up all the time. They are pricey...
Turnbull charged $600 to do both guns. Their prices vary on what they have to do to get the guns ready for the case hardening process.
I did the tear down, stripping, polishing prep and reassemble. They are stock Ruger brass frames.
Stainless steel cannot be case colored.

New additions to my collection
I am member #44 already.
I just got back a couple 5.5" that I had Turnbull bone charcoal case color hardened. They turned out pretty nice.
Find some Butler Creek Nipples
Stainless Butler Creek nipples have small flash holes like Treso nipples and are considerbly cheaper in price.
CCI 11s will work every time with them, with only slight pressure to seat them.
I am not a fan of Treso nipples, they have let me down and cost me...
Trade?
Articap, I would be willing to trade you a very clean adjustable sight ROA for your fixed sight model.
If interested send me a PM
Thanks

I have a NIB Traditions .45 Lightning rifle that can throw a saboted bullet well over 2000 FPS. That should do a number on a varmit.
Nickle finish, fluted barrels, fiber optic sights and a $100 + worth of accessories/ammo and powder.
I would part with it for $300 for everything
