Slew of gun related legislation introduced in Maryland

Thanks, Johnny! Every little bit helps. I will be meeting tomorrow morning with a Senator who is considered a swing vote on this bill. He's independent and open-minded on many issues, and I'm hoping we can get him to see this bill for what it is. The Senate Committee hearing will be on...

Slew of gun related legislation introduced in Maryland

Good replies, all...but please write to the folks I listed and tell them that you will not spend your money in a state which is so openly hostile to lawabiding gun owners... Thanks!

Slew of gun related legislation introduced in Maryland

Thanks for your empathy and your responses. Please write to the folks whose names I highlighted, and urge them not to support this measure.

Slew of gun related legislation introduced in Maryland

You don't have to be a Marylander to help stop this from becoming law... This new legislation is simply over the top. Maryland already has some of the strictest gun laws in the USA, including a mandatory waiting period and separate state background check, a one-gun-per-month purchase limit...

    Need help in an argument

In any argument over the "true meaning" of the Second Amendment, I suggest people consider it in the context of its inclusion in the Bill of Rights. The first ten amendments to the Constitution (the Bill of Rights) were written to limit the power of the government, and enshrine in writing...

thinking about a .357 lever gun...

I have a Winchester 94 Trapper in .357 Magnum. I've owned it for about 12 years now. It is light, handy, fun to shoot, accurate, and reliable. I equipped it with a Williams receiver sight, which I much prefer over the standard rifle sights, other than that it is totally stock. Accuracy...

    UK Legal SHTF Rifle

Fosbery, to answer your questions about the Steyr Scout: It has a five-round detachable box magazine standard, with a ten-round magazine kit optional. (The ten-round kit is expensive, however.) You can insert the magazine without seating it fully, thereby allowing you to load and fire...

    UK Legal SHTF Rifle

I cannot say enough good things about my Steyr Scout Rifle. If I were allowed to own only one firearm, that would be the one. Chambered in 7.62x51, one of the all-time great cartridges, it is wonderfully accurate, and its great handling, Ching sling, etc., etc., make it extremely useful for...

    Inland M1 Carbine

I note your statements that you have a large number of guns to go through, that you do not wish to keep many of them, that you wish to maximize the proceeds for your mother-in-law, and that you are a novice. With all that in mind, here is my 2 cents worth: Do not set a price for your M1...

    Browning T-Bolt

I owned a T-Bolt years ago. Nice shooting little rifle. Glad to see it back!

I need to ask myself what I really want.

I have both a DCM M1, and a Springfield Armory National Match M1A. Both are exceptional rifles. If I had to choose between them, I would probably choose the M1A, due to its detachable 20 round magazines, and its use of .308, which is more widely available than .30-'06. But you cannot go...

    Steyr Scout

I've owned a Scout for the past three years, and it is my favorite rifle. Great trigger, excellent ergonomics, stunning accuracy, truly a terrific all-round shooting tool. They are expensive new, but turn up used occasionally at very good prices. If you have the opportunity to pick one up, I...

    Any experience with Miltech Arms?

I own two Miltech rifles -- an Enfield Jungle Carbine and an M1 Carbine -- both bought used but barely fired. They are absolutely beautiful, with perfect wood and parkerizing, and they shoot very well. I have also seen Fulton Armory's work, most recently last weekend at a gun show in this...

    CMP Kimber Model 82's . . .

I bought my Kimber 82 from the CMP about three years ago. You will notice that most of these rifles have a scar on the stock, from where a razor blade was used to slice open the bags to check the S/N some years ago. I repaired the scar on my stock with wet/dry emory paper and Arrow wood...

If you are buying Thermold polymer mags for your Mini 14 I think you will be very pleased with them.

    Cooper Firearms?

A buddy of mine owns several of them, and swears by them for their accuracy. I've never shot one, but I have seen them, and they are beautiful.

    Mini-14 Accuracy

My Mini-14 is absolutely reliable, fits me very well, has a good trigger, and is easy to clean...but it is not that accurate. I would grab it in a heartbeat for defending myself or the homestead, but when I want to spend a day at the range punching little groups in paper, I take my AR-15 HBAR...

    Valmet questions...

Yes, this is a .223. Thanks for the twist information. It should shoot OK with 55 grain ammo if it is 1:12...shouldn't be too terribly expensive to feed! Thanks also for the magazine information. Your extractor question has me wondering: Is there any parts interchangeability between this...

New Enfield #4's, what a deal.

About ten years ago, I came across a NIB No. 4 at a gun show, made in 1955 at Fazakerly and packed away. It was in the wrapper, loaded with cosmoline, and with a brand-new bayonet, for $200. I still have it, and still think it was one of the best buys I ever made.
