Clearly you have given this a lot of thought. Since you express an intent to get training, a 9mm automatic is an excellent choice. If you and your wife were not intending to get training, a .38 revolver would be a better choice, being somewhat more simple to use for beginners. In any case...
That was very well written. The author has a very easy, conversational style, and except for citing a stat from the blissninnies, kept the article completely apolitical. It would be good if some national magazines would pick this up.
