    Illinois firearms transport?

My only concern was the physical location of the encased firearm. Apparently location is irrelevant as long as the firearm IS unloaded and IN a case. Just to be safe I got a copy of both ISP firearm transport brochure and a full copy of UUW laws in my firearm case with relevant info highlighted.

    Illinois firearms transport?

As I recall the law states that ammo can be kept in the case with the firearm, and the ISP website says ammo location whether in a mag or not is not regulated. Where did you see that ammo cannot be nearby? I am not being critical of you I just want to know. Also I am not interested in using a...

    Illinois firearms transport?

As far as I can tell, in IL all you have to do to legally transport a firearm is have a valid FOID AND have the firearm unloaded AND have it in a "case". I understand that the location of ammo whether in a magazine or loose rounds is NOT regulated as long as the ammo is not physically loaded...

ak74 tantal original or us made barrel?

No, it's not new... A friend of a friend is selling it, he said he bought it at a gun show (not sure when). So I have no clue how old it is or if it is under warranty... all I know if the serial number starts with Y000###, the gun looks pretty nice, and the guy said it does not keyhole. Perhaps...

ak74 tantal original or us made barrel?

I am looking at getting a polish tantal imported by century; I found one and really like it: all matching serial numbers, decent finish, really nice looking bore... However, I have been told to be weary of American made barrels on CAI guns, Century is apparently notorious for buying the cheapest...

    Ak-74 tantal bolt staying open?

That is what I thought was going on, but I wasn't sure if it was normal or would affect the function.

    Ak-74 tantal bolt staying open?

I was looking at a tantal recently and was tempted to buy it but one thing bothered me... The bolt seems pretty hard to charge back and it stays open when I open it slowly past where the "S" for safe is and let go. When it stays open all I had to do is bump it and it will slam shut... I have...

    Norinco Ak-47 stock short barrel?

Not like it would take much work... either way if they did want to come after my buddy they would be sadly disappointed as the rifle was legal length the whole time... and I looked like an idiot. Oh well.

"suppressors" vs "silencers" terminology is everything

I think This got a little off topic... I was merely trying to show the trends on google for actual firearms related stuff vs call of duty and james bond. I am not a snob about being grammatically correct: I used the term silencer in the first place in my search... that is why I started this...

    Norinco Ak-47 stock short barrel?

This reply is long overdue. I made a mistake in my measurements; I am embarrassed to say it but for the longest time I thought my rifle had a 16inch barrel :banghead:. It turns out it is a 18.5in barrel... I never actually used a ruler and I guess I got burned for it... I gave my buddy a lot of...

"suppressors" vs "silencers" terminology is everything

True that, but the night and day difference between the results I found were quite interesting. I think silencer has become somewhat of a slang term just like clip or "shotty" has, go to a gun show and you will not hear many serious gun enthusiasts asking dealers about their "silencers" for...

"suppressors" vs "silencers" terminology is everything

This is just something I found amusing that I think some of you guys might like too. I was reading about suppressors and seeing what benefits they might add to shooting (I have never personally shot a suppressed firearm because they are not legal in my state), and I thought hmm I wonder how they...

Mini-14 factory folding stock on a 581 series?

I don't see it like that... The 581 series is in my opinion better that the older mini-14s in terms of quality and accuracy... plus I really like the winged front sight & ghost ring rear sight. I just love the look of the original factory folder's they have a sort of elegance & classic look...

Mini-14 factory folding stock on a 581 series?

Hello all, Had a quick yes or no question: Will a 581 series mini-14 ranch rifle (current production model) fit in one of those old school factory folding stocks (think the ones from the A-Team). I have heard that there are some dimensional differences between the old mini-14 receivers...

question about new transferable machine gun registration?

Ok I know that no new machine guns can be made by individuals and be transferable as of 1986. I want to know more about this; is this a federal law or a policy made within the ATF. I personally think that this policy is unconstitutional, unfair, and unreasonable. Due to the fact that...

    Illinois: rifle for varmint hunting?

I never got it either... for years I was under the impression that rifles are not to be used on ANY animals in IL. I just learned otherwise today... I always assumed it had to do with the fact that rifle bullets travel a REALLLLY long distance... but then I wonder why other big-slow rifle...

    Illinois: rifle for varmint hunting?

In a residential area? That brings up another point that I have wondered about; if you have a problem animal or rabid animal on your property (in a residential area) can you dispatch it? I would think the answer is a solid "maybe" depending on the circumstances... But a NO for most... I have a...

    Illinois: rifle for varmint hunting?

So I know that you can't use rifles for deer hunting in Illinois. But what about hunting varmints or nuisance animals? Can you legally use a rifle on them? I know we have all sorts of pesky critters like coyotes, skunks, raccoons, opossum, squirrels, ground hogs, etc... there are even reports...

    Transporting firearms in Illinois

Well yea I agree 100%, I don't plan on trying this in the way I described; it was more of a curious legal question. When I owned my last truck I had no where else to put my guns, aside from the front seat; I only did this on my way to and from the shooting range / hunting grounds & did not have...

    Transporting firearms in Illinois

Here is a little question I have regarding transporting firearms in Illinois law. I understand that the firearm must be: Unloaded, in a closed case/container, (*or* broken down, unloaded, & out of reach), and the firearms must be in possession of a person with valid FOID card (or a non state...
