8x56R? Are you shooting out of an M95? What powder? I load 8x50R for my M95 and if you're like most of us MilSurp guys, you won't be loading these heavy. I use IMR4895 in my 8x50's and I keep em pretty light. I have 3 or 4 different brands of brass. I use 7.62x54R to make my 8x50's. I've used a...
Maybe this is obvious, but just gotta say... I loaded a bunch of Spire point .30-30 rounds that I use in my Savage 170 pump rifle. Key is to only load one in the pipe and one in the mag tube. Works fine for me.
Most people that I know of, including me, immediately cull and recycle any AMERC cases. I've never seen them in 9mm, but any I get in .45 immediately get squished with pliers and tossed in the recycle bin. The problem I have with them is a complete lack of neck tension and/or the primer pockets...
Fred, do you have a link? I just went to the Hodgdon Reloading center for 9mm and don't see any Berry's plated bullets listed... I'd love to see them referenced by more mfr's.
I don't use the 124gr in 9mm...
For the 230gr RN plated (I have used Rainier) my recipe is:
Rainier 230gr RN Unique 6 gr 1.255" COL
Work great for me in my Bersa Ultra Compact.
I like them all separate, so I can move them around when I need/want. It depends on your work area and how much space you have. I used the biggest bolts that would fit in the holes of my presses. For Lee press, I think that may be 5/16 bolts, maybe 3/8, I don't remember. For the press itself...

;) LOL. Sorry, in a wiseacre mood today.
I have a wood shop where I usually have lots of good scrap wood choices. I mount my presses on 1 1/2" thick oak hardwood and then clamp it to the bench with woodworking clamps. Nice and solid, though I doubt it HAS TO BE that thick.
What WALKALONG said^^^... then AFTER you have the crimp all set up how you want, set the lock ring. Run the seated round back up into the die, and screw your seating stem BACK DOWN to just touch the bullet and lock it down. Your crimp will be set, and your seating depth will be good. That's the...
That's about how I flare for plated bullets. I've peeled off the plating on too many with a lesser flare. For fmj bullets it is more than needed, but I doubt it'll shorten your brass life all that much. I generally lose them before I wear them out.
OAL looks much better to me.
You...
I personally use the Lee Factory Crimp die. Some love it, others have no use for it. Seat and crimp in separate steps. I have a 4 hole press, so no big deal to me. I still have no idea why Hornady sells 9x19 with a roll crimp die. You can still use it. It'll remove your flare, its just a hell of...
Nope... "The Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension Nitride 3-Die Set is a great die set for the avid reloader. The set includes a CGND Nitride Full-length Sizing Die, CGND Adjustable Case Mouth Expander Die, and CGND Seater Die with roll crimp." Does anyone know why they even make a roll crimp for...
