    45 acp bullets too big?

Two more things to check. Your brass isn't Amerc is it??? Amerc is thicker, and can cause a problem even with bullets that are .452, but with .453 it would be even worse. Secondly, how's your crimp. I've seen a lot of folks have jam problems of the type you describ because of a bad...

45 ACP brass in 45 Colt

Here's another alternative for you. There is a new cartridge being sold on ebay. It's a shortened 45 Colt, (45 Cowboy Special) for those who want to use less powder in their six guns. You use 45 ACP loads in a case that works in your 45 SAA...

    STAR LUBRACIATOR AND SIZER?

I also have four of the older Star Lubrisizers, and they are great. I don't think they are necessarily any better than the Magma units, and I don't believe there is any difference in materials of construction. I have seen a few reports of quality control issues with the Magma units, but they...

How old is your reloading equipment?

I do all my reloading on Star machines, Stars were made from 1932 to 1993, and there were so few changes to them its almost impossible to tell how old one is, and they last forever. I think my oldest goes back to the mid sixties, but its though to tell, but I think they probably have...

    Has anyone decapped live primers?

I have decapped many live primers, one went off. I was lucky, no injuries.

    Sizer Die Not Working??

Do you have your sizing die adjusted properly. When the case is raised all the way up into the die, the sizing die should touch, or virtually touch the shell holder or shell plate.

Star Lubrisizers... Continued from Buy-Sell-Trade Accessories

Maybe you missed a digit. Star Lube sizers have been going for $170+ on ebay with one die and punch. Have seen some go for considerably more, and very few for less in the past year or so. If you can find one privatly, or at a gun show you may do better, but they are few and far between.

    star reloader 9mm conversion?

Actually, Stars were made until 1993 when they were selling for over $1000 each. There are two models, the Progressive, and the Universal. The Progressive was for 38 Special Only, while the Universal could be changed to other calibers with the appropriate shell plate and dies. The best way...

    best luber/sizer?

I use Hornady Gas Checks with my Stars and have no problem at all. All of the original Star top punches were designed to push the bullet through the die base first. They would make a top punch for whatever bullet nose you had. Magma Engineering only makes flat top punches for sizing nose...

    best luber/sizer?

If your looking for the best, its the Star. Not only is it faster and less messy, but you can lube bullets with bevel bases without filling the bevel with lube. I have three Stars. My Lyman should be on ebay pretty soon. Not a bad machine, but no comparison to a Star.

Made a decision: No more .38 Specials for me.

10 boxes a Year? How about 5-10 boxes a week. But I load 450 rounds an hour on one of several progressives.

    TNT Reloading

I live nearby, TNT is probably at the Valley Forge Gun Show this weekend, and probably at Harrisburg next weekend. He usually does those shows. I will try to get hold of him on Monday and let him know people are wondering about him. I have to check on the progress of one of my orders for...

    TNT Reloading

I was in there last week. I'm sure he is still open. Tony has sort of wierd hours. He travels to gun shows on the weekends, and if its a long ways from the store, he leaves Friday morning and doesn't get back till sometime on Monday. If your really concerned, give him a call (610-759-1449)...

    Powder prices

$13 - $17/lb depending on powder. Try TNT Reloading http://www.tntreloading.com/ I'm local, so I don't have to pay a hazmet fee, but they have a promotion where they cover half the fee if you buy 16 lbs, and all of it if you buy 32 lbs.

    Favorite recipe for .357 mag 158LSWC ??

I use the Lyman Gas Check bullets over 14.1 grains of H4227 with WSPM primers. I get a 3/4" one hole group at 25 yards.

    Powder For 148 Gr. HBWC

I have used 3.1 of w231 for some time with good results, but I'm in the process of trying some other powders. 2.6 grains of 700x has given me some really great results lately, and 2.7 grains of Clays also looks pretty good. Both powders are supposed to be very clean, but I haven't shot enough...
