the 10/22 standard model i bought in 2001 was a champ. no issues at all, but then again i dont go over a $160 gun with a magnifying glass like some of you guys. if it shoots good i dont really care. i put a bushnell 4x12 on it and rocked out. it was so accurate at 50 yds it was boring.
glocktalk has a lot of knowledgable members, and it is the fastest loading forum i know of.
i post there a lot because there are some good people there, unfortunatley glocktalk also seems to attract a lot of liberals. if you say something thats not PC you might be branded a racist.

i heard from various sources that the guns at wal mart were ones that failed certain factory QC standards. like slight blemishes, looser tolerances, etc. supposedly thats how wal mart got them so cheap. because you have to figure, wal mart doesnt buy guns in extreme bulk like...
i have a marlin 336 30-30 i want to get rid of, and replace it with a good .44mag levergun. i was leaning towards the ruger. i dont know anybody that has a .44mag carbine so i cant shoot one:(
