Rifle for Daughter and Deer Hunting

I shoot with the girls all the time. I keep it positive, encouraging, and keep it fun and safe. The best rifle in my opinion is the one she likes the best. Easy on the recoil may make her more comfortable. My wife shoots her 5.56 much more often than her 303 carbine.

Vintage 760 Remington in 35rem buildup.

I have had a few rifles that I tried to scope without drilling and taping. The result for me was funkified. Most did not work well. Enfield Mk4 No1 comes to mind as one. I see no shame in taking sporting rifles and making them ADA compliant.:what:

    Sported Winchester 1917

I prefer the U.S. Rifle Cal.30 model 1917 over many others. It might be the 15" LOP or the 15 lbs it weighs, but it just fits me well and it never-ever has any problems. I love those old Mausers. If I recall correctly I think Brownells sells dies for cutting crowns, or a local smithy should be...

Vintage 760 Remington in 35rem buildup.

Nice looking rifle you have there. I had one years ago in 270 win., Leopuld scope on it. The rifle kicked like a mule, but it was accurate. I had to learn how to chamber a round without making noise and scaring off dinner. Too slow it would not chamber and too quick it would be loud on...

    Recommend a good all-around defensive rifle (if I can't get an AR/M4)?

In California we just throw insults and old gun locks at each other!:neener: Actually, I agree with Art Eastman. The SKS. I wanted to hate this rifle and sell it when it gained value. I ended up liking it....Alot! Training and experience is more usefull than anything else in my humble...

Hello 35 Whelen, I just picked up a Smith and Wesson SW9VE(9mm) Sigma series on GB. I paid $200 and some change. I see that cheaper than dirt has them in the new catalog for $272.00 brand new. I have handled the pistol and broke it down, but I have not fired it at the range yet. What I...

    Reason for .303 ammo scarceness

I studied the .303 and found generally speaking it falls between the popular 30-30 and the .308. My wife has a No.4 carbine. Her No.1 go-to bolt rifle. Nice well built rifle and the Prvi has been easy to get. Then again, our shipping address is not a cave in the middle east.

    Need a deer rifle...

I spent time in the high road archives reading up before I bought my last high power bolt rifle. You have asked a great question and there are many right answers. We could name rifles from A-Z but they are fifles that fit us. I agree with the advice to go by the local gunshow, pawn shop or...

what firearm have your parents/grandparents passed down to you

I have a good friend who just gave me an old Arisaka last ditch 7.7. It's a bit rough and has been made into a sporter. Barrel and reciever are both very nice! I took it apart and am fixing it up. My goal is to make it the best I can. My Dad did not pass down any rifles, but he did take me...

    SKS accuracy

I went to take my bayonet off to put it in the gun case and found that the back of the screw had ben peened. Now to remove it I will need to drill it out and find a replacement screw. Anyone else find this on theirs? I would assume Brownells may have the screw. Also I have been looking at the...

    SKS accuracy

Well I picked up my SKS over the weekend and gave it a good cleaning. My wife and I have not been able to take it to the range yet, but we are looking forward to it. On a dry fire, the trigger travel is more like the Friday evening commute. It has a black bolt, an artic stock and the...
