    Strongly Considering Taurus MilPro 145

I like the size, weight, round count, and manual safety. Before I make the decision, I wanted to hear what others have to say. Thanks! http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=39&category=Pistol

    Is The 45ACP Too Slow?

I kind of see where Buzz is going with this. I notice a lot of ballistics don't focus too much on a variety of barrel lengths. I was looking at the Taurus PT145 and saw that even the fastest .45 +P rounds only reach around 740 fps (iirc) with much less muzzle energy out of its small barrel...

    Lowest Cost Reliable Ammo

What do most people use for their target ammo? I'm mainly interested in 9mm and .45. I know a lot of people do reloading, but I'd like to exclude reloads in this thread so I can get an idea of what to look out for in future ammo purchases. Thanks all!

    10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

Good to know about the HK45C mags. I was checking their site and it just lists 10 rounds. I'd rather not have anything sticking out below the grip. Thanks for the info!

    10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

I was reading an article that said the Glock 30SF wouldn't be a good candidate for +P ammo due to the heavy throating. Is this really an issue, or should I be comfortable in running +P rounds for defense?

    10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

Lots of votes for the Taurus. I'm surprised. I guess I could have been wrong about the Glock 30 as well. I'll have to look into them both a bit more!

    10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Any others recommended?

    10+ Round .45 ACP Compact

I'm curious what's available in a compact size, or semi-compact in .45 ACP with a standard magazine with 10 rounds or more. I've found the Glock 30, XD Compact .45, and H&K 45c. Quickly reading forums, it seems like the Glock 30 isn't as well liked as other Glock models. I know nothing about...

    what advantage does an 8-shot .45 have over a 16shot 9mm??

I feel like it depends on the circumstance and usage. A LEO is already going to have multiple magazines with them, so the 8 vs 16 round scenario is not important. I don't expect to see many US citizens with 2-4 magazines along with their locked and loaded pistol for CCW. Not unless they plan on...

    what advantage does an 8-shot .45 have over a 16shot 9mm??

I'm going to go with the capacity argument. In 9, 40, or 45. The more bullets the better. You might be a hell of a shot at the range where there's no stress, no wind, no obstacles, but if SHTF, all of the above are going to be affecting your shots. There's a high miss rate in real world...

    Glock and S&W M&P

I'm curious. Both of these lines are very similar. Of course, Glock came first, but the S&W M&P line is also excellent, and provides a few different options. I know people are generally of two categories, Glock lovers or Glock haters, but I notice that when recommendation threads open up, you...

Glock Carriers - Check this out

This has already been posted before. Poor holsters and improper weapon handling can result in dangerous accidents. This is why equipment and knowledge of gun safety is important. Glock is not at fault here.

    Sti gp6

Still sounds really intriguing. I'm looking at lightweight carry autos with safeties. I wonder if this should be on my short list, even though it seems as if not a whole lot of people around here have tried them.

    Sti gp6

I've been looking at this pistol as of late. Very interesting with the rotating barrel design. Reviews look pretty positive overall. Does anyone have experience with one, and how does it compare to the other top dogs of the same category? Thanks!

    .45 ACP CCW Options

I'm interested in seeing some good options for a .45 ACP CCW. What are the best options available these days?

    Most Modern Pistols

I'm curious what pistols released in the last few years have attempted and succeeded in pushing the envelope to create superior weapons for a variety of different situations. This could mean better materials and/or a unique take on the mechanics of the gun, as well as anything else. What are...

    Ballistics Testing Resources

Not too long ago, I stumbled onto a really cool site that had a lot of information regarding various caliber rounds and how they penetrated and expanded through milk jugs. The site had a small drawing emulating the path through the milk jugs, as well as any fragmentation that happened along the...
