Why two styles of Trigger Guards and Front Sight Guards? Fishbed77: You have the "other" factory trigger guard. Although they don't seem to be as common, I have seen enough of them on CP and CAI rifles and in parts kits online to know that they are "factory original". I wish my VZ2008 had...

You have more guts than I do, Mike. To reduce the trigger pull on my VZ2008, I bent the right spring leaf down about 1/4 inch so that it no longer contacted the sear (I initially did it as an experiment, before the modification became common knowledge). This way the second leaf is still...

Greetings all: For those of you who are not aware, there is an informative and well-written review of our VZ.58 rifles on the Truth About Guns.com website here: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/04/joe-grine/gun-review-czech-vzor-58/ The writer seems to have a bit of bias against the VZ...

Thanks for the info, Maverick. I've briefly handled a VZ with a fixed original stock, but have only seen pics of the polymer skeleton stock, so I have no idea of how that type feels / handles. I'd prefer the look of the original one, but at this point I want to try out either type to see if I...

Looking for a Fixed Stock Greetings All: I currently own a VZ 2008 with the standard folding stock. For an optic I'm using a cheap 4X EER scope on a scope base that I've bolted onto the upper hand guard heat shield, and have added an additional layer of dense foam to the existing pipe...

Re: Range report JohnnyK: One way I've found to keep the original lower hand guard cool is to line it with one layer of automotive exhaust manifold wrap. I held mine in place with two small bolts & flat washers, which were also used to mount a 5-6 inch length of picatinny rail underneath for...

Insulation or Metal Heat Shield For the Lower Hand Guard? Fellow Shooters: The one time I took my VZ 2008 out shooting, I quickly noticed how hot the lower hand guard got, after only two magazines of slow firing (100+ degree temps in the full sun didn't help). I read somewhere that someone...

Rubber Slip-On Butt Pad, FSE USA or Leapers? Hello Guys: I own a VZ 2008 with the folding stock that I want to equip with one of those rubber slip-on butt pads that were originally designed for an AK47 with a grenade launcher. I've seen pictures in previous posts where several members here...

Okay, I'm don't know much about this subject, but I've always heard 7.62 and .308 used interchangeably. Someone please give me the true measurements! Thanks. Cary

killertom: A pic would be great, if only for educational purposes. Since the rail was originally designed for Soviet(?) NV equipment, are aftermarket "regular" scope mounts available for that rail, or can scopes be adapted to fit on the original NV mount (if its even available?). Thanks. Cary

D-Technik and Century VZ Trigger Pull Weights Needed Can some one (or even better, several of you) who owns a trigger pull weight gauge measure the poundage on their CZ/D-Technik and/or Century rifles? The questions raised in Posts 301-307 got me to experiment with the spring in my VZ 2008...

Conclusion Re: Need Help Diagnosing VZ 2008 Problem, Posts #286, 292 Today I used a file and rounded off the corner of the tab, as suggested by Dave McFaul in post # 295. My bolt carrier now moves smoothly ALL THE TIME, regardless of the position of the safety lever. Thank you for your help...

Yes, as I noted in Post #296, the Century uses both sides of the spring, which contact a sear which is 4-5 times wider than the one used on the CZ-VZ. Since the striker used on both models is identical and has the same size contact surface with the sear, I wonder what the reason is for the...

Thanks for your detailed reply and pic, Dave. You answered while I was formulating my response to your earlier post. If the Canadian rifles don't come with an Auto Sear, which civilian ones do? It sounds like installing the tab is common to Canadian VZs to increase reliability. It's nice to...

Dave: Are the pics at the bottom of my original post #286 on July 9th sufficient? Sorry the last pic doesn't show the entire fire control mechanism; I was trying to show the disconnector. I've never examined a "real" VZ.58, but based only on Nalioth's pictures of a VZ.58 here...

No worries, Maverick. I'm only going to smooth out the roughened metal at the point that it initially contacts the disconnector, or at the very most re-contour it very slightly to give it a little more of a gradual slope at the point of contact. I'm certainly not going to reshape or reduce it...
