    Shortest shot on a deer?

Closer than I'd like to mention I'm a city-boy and had never hunted deer before, in my late 20's. After wandering around for an hour or so I decided to eat a sandwich I had in my pocket. Lying under a pine tree next to the road, smoking a cigar after my sandwich, I noticed a fairly large doe...

What caliber for an ar sbr

I'm interested in something similar, my vote is for AR pistol in .300BLK and then SBR it when the opportunity presents itself. In the mean time, I can shoot it and do load development work. Good Luck!

    AR Pistol, Proto-SBR Legality Question

You have probably found your answer by now. My solution was that I found a vendor selling a carbine buffer assembly, without a stock. My thought was to buy a carbine buffer assembly and sell the butt-stock before I had all of the other parts, but this worked out well.

    40 S&W Powders

I've been shooting 6.0 grs. of IMR "PB" under a 150gr. jhp for years. My notes say something over 30,000 rounds since 2005. Consistant, clean burning. My Dillon 550B is set-up for this load right now!

Been thinking about a lever action for HD/SD

.38/.357 Lever action carbine, You betcha! I don't have a lever action .38/.357, but I have a couple of S&W .357's and a .38 cal model 36 Smith. I think a .38/.357 lever gun could but the right stuff, since you reload, less than magnum loads wouldn't be a problem. I have 6 or 7 hammers, I...

300 blk owners, a question for you...

+1 chaser 2332 My apologies up front, I do not own a .300blk. I have studied ballistics since 1977 though. There are no free lunches here. If it's smaller than a 7.62 Nato, it's not, and never will be a battle rifle. Assault rifles are by design for use at shorter ranges. Pistol caliber...

Looking to scope my 10/22, fixed or variable?

Is this a standard or target barreled rifle. My nosy answer is to buy a nice scope for around $100 or less and buy a couple of bricks of good ammo, and go shoot the heck out of it. Trigger time will go a lot further than anything else. Deliberate shots, rapid fire is fun, but you don't learn...

Is Illinois getting anywhere with carrying a gun.

+1 with writerinmo, we stopped going to Illinois too, no Fast Eddy's, Spencer T. Olin golf, what-ever. Usually about 20 - 25 guys, 4 or 5 times a year. Life's too short, gotta go where you're welcome.

What's the point of AR-15 pistols?

Here's why I want one I'd like to build a 9" or 10" barreled AR pistol in 300 Blackout, so I can tune, and do load development while I await my Federal Tax stamps for the SBR status and suppressor that I'd like to add. I've heard that it can take upwards of 6 months for the papers to be...

What can I use for an inexpensive shotgun LED light & mount?

I'm actually going to build my light from components and I figure the light, LED of choice, battery, charger, and tail switch will be delivered to my door for under $40.00. A simpler solution would be a SolarForce L2, with a single mode LED, 2X 18650 Lithium batterys and charger for $50.00...

    lasers

I haven't played with a laser on a handgun, but after I mounted a weapon light on my AR-15, I thought about adding a laser too . More as an exercise than something I needed, I used to play around with building hand-held lasers. First things first. A >5mW laser is visible as ambient light...

What do you do with hollow points when you move in NJ?

Perhaps someone can comment, are Nosler style ballistic tipped bullets hollow point in this case or not? Where do copper frangible bullets fall in this debate. Thanks.

    Armed Robbery Caught on Camera

The clerk was behind the curve when he saw the perp. I'm not going to antagonize a guy with a gun for anybody's money. Additionally, I'd be surprised if the gun-man would look away if he had been engaged with focused eye to eye contact. Life is still stranger than fiction.

high and to the left with G19

+1 on SIGMIC & allaroundhunter, All of my GLOCK's shoot to the point of aim, w/factory sights. I want to address how you shoot your 23, any similarities? I tend to shoot my 23 left as well, with some help and a video camera we found the shorter grip hit my hand differently than my other...

    Why not pin/weld suppressor adapter

Thanks Guys, That cleared my head right up. I didn't know how to ask the questions to get these answers, but I understand things now.

    Why not pin/weld suppressor adapter

Thanks for the input everyone. I think that some of the replies miss my point. I don't want to SBR the gun, so I don't see any reason, at this time to spend the extra $200. I was talking about shortening the barrel the amount that the suppressor Q/D mount extends past the mounting threads...

    Why not pin/weld suppressor adapter

rjrivero, I got the idea of a permanent, pinned way of making the barrel 16" minimum from you. It looks like the YHM adapter is closer to 2" longer than the barrel. Like dprice3844444 said, I'm trying to save the additional $200 tax stamp! I don't care about an SBR enough to spend the bucks...

What do you want the Glock G40 to be?

Without the "hole" in the slide it's a single shot it will be too heavy to cycle. 8-)

    Why not pin/weld suppressor adapter

I'd like to build a 300blk upper and have a suppressor adapter permanently attached and pinned per Federal Regulations to create a barrel at around 16.25" - 16.50". I'm leaning toward a YHM Phantom .308 suppressor w/QD adapter. Adco does work like this, and I'm sure there are others. I...
