M37 shell lifter and slide removal question

The gunsmith probably meant 1 or 2 clicks as in detents. When is disassembling the bolt and carrier from the action rod, they must be pulled apart. Move the pin over hold the bolt and slide the action handle forward and that should seperate the two parts.

    Ithaca 37 questions

Your shotgun has been ruined IMO. Value has been destroyed as far as collecting value goes. The "FULL" was the choke designation as this M37 had a full choke "once upon a time". It can be restored, but it will have to go to the current maker and the receiver modified to accept the newer...

    Ithaca 37 questions

Your M37 was made in 1950 The -2 is the choke designation; Modified If the wear is from being used extensively and you like it why mess with it. Used guns in original condition are generally more desirable than a re-blued one. Besides the wear gives it character. If the crack is towards...

    Colt Delta Elite Recoil System

The Series 80 EGW .38 Super FPS is correct for the Delta Elite. The Wilson is not a true squared bottom like the EGW. The square bottom firing pin stop does work as per Tuner's advice. As a matter of fact it worked so well in my Colt LWT GM that I found a warranty issue with my gun. The pistol...

    MIG weld a bolt handle?

As a metal fabricator and a mediocre welder I'd arc weld ir before I'd Mig it. But the TIG process is by far the best option followed by gas welding.

    Winchester 100 in .358 caliber

It is possible that Winchester may have used some of the 358 barrels in the Model 100. Although I was under the impression that the 100 was not chambered in 358, this rifle surely look correct in in my non-expert qualified opinion.

ATF: Comments Open on Multiple Long Gun Sales Reporting

I subscribe to the Gun Rights Examiners and when I read the blog, as well as the comment, I did the only thing I could think of. I sent in my Comment, and then posted the links on three gun websites. I'm sure that there are several ways and blogs to answer to the ATF comment session, but I...

    Most American service gun!

There are several choices for sure, but IMO the "Thompson Submachine Gun" is truly the American gun. Notoriety from the 20s and 30s by being used by the gangsters and bootleggers, and used valiantly by LEO, and the Marines guarding the US Mail and in the banana wars, and of course used by all...

    What's better than a S&W with a Tyler T Grip?

Or a Colt with Pachmayr grip adapters. I bought some from Gun Parts Corp to be sure I'd like them. I have one on my Detective Special and one on my Official Police. I want to get a Tyler T grip for the OP, but they seem to be months behind after a business move.

    Another 27-3 followed me home

I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Model 28, I had one in 4 inch, but traded it for a M29 6 in, to go with my 25-2 and 25-5. Unfortunately I don't have them any more either.

    snubbie choices

The Detective Special gets my vote. I do like the "J" frame S&Ws, but 6 shots is 20% more firepower than 5. Of the lightweight Colt Agent that we have, and the Smith and Wesson Chiefs Special Airweight I had, I think I would prefer the Smith. I carry a used DS on a regular basis, but I've had...

    My new FNP-40

I had one, mine was single action. My brother's is double action. The one I want is both. Push the safety / decocker up and it functions like a single action auto. Down and the safety / decocker works like a double action auto. Now I like that feature and will replace my FNP 40 with one.

    25-2 45acp/45ar

I had one of them. What a nice shooter. I reloaded and used the AutoRim cartridge, and really liked it. Also had a Colt 1917 in 45 ACP. I miss having them.
