    Reloading-Loctite on Primer Pockets?

getting a little off topic here but try this easy enough to do. Load up a wheel gun with primer only cases and see how long it takes to lock that puppy up....the primers will back out. Not enough pressure to hold them in place during the firing cycle.

    Tips for reloading 38/357

One 38/357 powder? BlueDot. Easy to light and doesn't need a heavy crimp. Do not and I repeat do not use Blue Dot data for 357 out of the Speer 11. Too hot by ALOT! Your 3 inch Ruger should be quite interesting with BlueDot. Even starting and mid range loads should be quite flashy. Sierra...

    Depriming Military Brass (5.56x45mm)

I reload a lot of GI brass...223. 308. 06 and even 45 ACP. all with crimped primers and have never had a problem de capping with a size die. Over 30 years I've probably broke or bent 3 de capping pins. The cause was off center holes or not seating the case into the shell holder 100%. This is...

    Winny Model 12 stocks?

OK thanks on the info but there has been uninteresting turn of events. And I will have to do some more research. And consideration of what I'm going to do next if anything. I bought this particular model 12 a couple of days ago. I didn't pay a premium price because of the stock issue. Upon...

    Winny Model 12 stocks?

A quick question for those who know. Is there any difference between a stock for a Model 12 12 ga and a Model 12 16 ga? -or- I bought a model 12 in 16 ga. The stock looks like it was next to something and the varnish is peeling off. If I refinish, what stain and varnish would look similar to...

Good powder for MATCH GRADE .223 in the AR platform

Interesting question. I've found for the lighter match bullets Varget or 748 works well. For bullets 77 gr and 80 gr Reloader 15 is the one. Burns cleaner than Varget. Of course with your twist no heavy bellets for you. I also use Remington 7 1/2 match primers. Uniforming primer pockets...

    Match King vs Game King

I agree with the 165 game King filling the bill. I have to agree in my M1's anyways. To get 1 MOA out of a M1 it would have to be exceptional. This doesn't mean it can't be done but you won't know till you try it. For my 06 bolt guns IMR 4350 is hard to beat with that 165. I have a...

    astigmatism options?

Like already said get your eyes checked!!! You may have to buy 2 pairs of glasses. I'm near sighted and with my old eyes have a problem getting a sharp front post. I also shoot a red dot on my BE 22 pistols. I had the eye doc give me a script taking 1/4 a diopter out of my script. This...

    AR cycling issue

yeah and they are not getting my for real e mail either.... So far the advice you have been given is good. AR's like to run wet. Some ammo will not reliably function the action. PMC is one I've had trouble with in my WOP match uppers. Never tried the wolf stuff. You say you got the rifle...

Starting to load 223 and need some info on getting started

Hi, long time competitive Service Rifle shooter with 223. A couple of things. You do not need a small base die set for 223. But you will need to raise the ram so the shell holder touches the bottom of the die. Lower the Ram and turn the size die another 1/4 to 1/2 turn and lock it. If you...

M1 Garand Gas Plug Tool - Necessary?

Plus 2 I also use a 1/4 ratchet with an short extension. I think one would have to have a large cheater bar on the gas plug tightening tool to bend or damage the barrel spines. With a match tuned M1, all bets are off.

    Resizing/decapping question?

OK a game changer. I've reloaded many many M1 loads used in competition both 3006 and 308. M1 ammo needs to be full length sized every time. I have yet to use a small based die and my F/L RCBS dies work well for an 30-06 M1. If your bullet has a crimp groove, you can crimp. If not, don't crimp...

    Resizing/decapping question?

If shooting a bolt gun you can neck size the case a few times before needing to F/L resize. If the bolt is hard to close with a neck sized only case, then a F/L size is in order. If loading for an auto loader neck sizing isn't going to do it for you. bullets should not just drop into your neck...

    Interesting 9mm problem

In regards to leading. Just an observation on my part. Lead and 45 ACP are made for each other. I found I was leading badly and went through the hard cast etc, etc. What I found was I was 1. not belling enough and 2. crimping too much. My theory is I was disturbing the lead in the bullet where...

    electronic powder despenser's

I would go to Midway USA and read the reviews. It seems like the elec throws got too cheap a few years ago and it appears people are having good luck with them again. If I were to buy a new one today I would look at the Hornaday. I have an old Lyman DPS 1200 I use for loading match ammo. It's...

How do you tell a LEO that you are armed at a traffic stop

Hermanner wrote: You missed the point I was making. When someone told me they were carrying, I still did my job. But you see I viewed the permit holders as my back up since real back up could be 30 miles away. I was hoping if I was getting wopped a law abiding citizen would help out. And...

How do you tell a LEO that you are armed at a traffic stop

As A retired LEO from Washington State who worked out in the sticks alone, I appreciated a person telling me they were armed when I approached the car. I was more inclined to give a gun toting honest law abiding citizen a break. There is no requirement to inform L/E you are armed here in...
