Saw this same problem on a new gun. the parkerising was so rough the trigger spring would not reset the trigger. Oil on it( it was shipped dry) and thirty rounds latter it was functioning normally.

Numrich gun parts shows three rear sights "R" and "L" and unmarked. And I saw one marked 4? so their is some variance in how they are marked.

Most of my containers for powder have a label for the powder measure/ weight in magic marker on them. if I use the powder for different bullet weights or calibers, It gets more notes.
I know that Hercules had an original lot of bullseye stored in water. They would take some out and test it against new powder to make sure to stayed the same.
