    Just an old fart

Compact 9 mm autos would be my suggestion. Concealed carry and 9 mm ammo being a caliber you are likely to find maybe even easier to find than 45. Your daughter might find it easier to shoot also.

Do hard hunting trips bring out the real person?

Just want to thank all of those who have posted to this thread. I have never hunted before, but joined a hunt club a few months ago and our next meeting is in September. I'm in my fifties and I do not know if I'll ever bag my first deer or even if I'll pull the trigger when I get one in my...

The prices individuals think their used rifles are worth...

I live 20 miles from Washington, DC, where many things costs more than they do in other parts of the US. I know a few local gun enthusiasts who have relatively high incomes and can easily afford to pay a higher price for a particular gun they really want. They might be well aware of what the...

    DIY Portable Target Stand

Here are plans for a target stand I built in less than two hours. Cheap, easy to make and works great! Don't know if anyone else ever made one similar to this, but if they did I have not seen it. This is my own creation.

Does My Firearm Collection Strategy Make Sense?

Not really into coins, but thanks for the suggestion. I like having more than one gun. I love shooting them. Often times, I think about what I'm going to do next time I go to the range. I like talking about them on gun forums such as this one. And I think most of us on this forum would...

Does My Firearm Collection Strategy Make Sense?

I've read lots of good replies, but I liked yours in particular because I think you nailed it. A collection with a unifying theme! I admit I don't have one yet. Now you got me thinking how much I like my Sako rifle made in Finland and how I'd love to have a collection of Sako and Tikka bolt...

Does My Firearm Collection Strategy Make Sense?

"What's a platform?" Sorry about that. Being an ex-Navy Avionics technician, back in the day we called an F-14 Tomcat a weapons platform. You are right to point out I should not introduce an unfamiliar term like that. Also, I appreciate the feedback from everyone, but I suppose I could...

Does My Firearm Collection Strategy Make Sense?

I started collecting back in 2011. My acquisition strategy evolved over the past four years. One rule I follow is that I do not sell a gun unless I simply do not like it or shoot it and has no recognized collection value. Learned that lesson the hard way! My first gun was a S&W Model 10...

    Talk me into/out of a CZ75 BD!

The decocker is pointless? Scenario: I'm at the range - range is hot - I'm about to fire one off and RO shouts CEASE FIRE! The first thing I'm going to do is decock.

    Talk me into/out of a CZ75 BD!

My CZ75 BD Police is one of my favorite guns. I installed the CZ brand rubber grips and can honestly say it fits my hand like a glove. We're talkin ERGONOMIC! Trigger reach for smaller hands I think would also depend on finger length? I like the weight also - for me, I get back on target...

Poll: What's Your Favorite Working Man's Knife?

Believe it or not, Smith & Wesson! This is my EDC knife - use it all the time, sharp as the day I got it and the slim profile fits in pocket I forget its there. Extreme Ops model, bought mine for $15.00 and since then I've seen them even lower price at a national chain auto parts store...

Help me choose my next purchase...

The Axis makes sense to me. for the reasons cat_IT_guy mentioned. 2nd choice - it is the 50th anniversary for the Ruger 10/22. Time tested classic rifle. Good investment. Personally, I like the idea of having at least two guns of the same caliber in case one fails, I have a backup.

    Reloading noob need some advice.

"OAL is same as factory 1.102. I then seated one of the hornady bullets and measured and got 1.085. Brass is once fired PMC and between .749-.751 in length... what am I missing here? I measured the two bullets, hornady measures .550 and berrys .554... How in the heck can a shorter bullet seat...
