It happens, but it shouldn't happen when a hunter is ill prepared to make a shot at a given range. Practice at a range at which your gun (and you) shoots consistent, acceptable groups. "Big Buck" doesn't justify a shot at a range beyond either your or the rounds effectiveness . . . get within...
