well... ive always gone off the package "Polenta. Ingredients: Cornmeal" since ive never actually seen cornmeal labelled as such for sale over here in Australia, but getting onto google... jeez there is a whole lot of what the differences are.
BUT you can use cornmeal as a filler anyway. the...
I've been tinkering with loads and found 20gr ffg with 40gr volume of polenta aka cornmeal filler. .457 round ball and just some lube on top to be one of the most accurate loads in my gun. The weight of the gun absorbs all the recoil which is a bonus too.
Using filler is easier than you think...
Wow no wonder the Henry rifle replicas are so expensive! Barrel and magazine are one piece, the way the front pivots for loading and the dovetailed sideplates...
I still want one though but they run near the $2k mark over here.
ive found that 20-30gr is most accurate in my Walker. These are a few years ago off a sandbag 30gr FFFg and 30gr volume of polenta filler with a .457 round ball. aiming at the bottom of the black.
25m

Ive tried 200m with a 60gr FFFg load for ****s n giggles, but the...
I do a 50/50 mix of crisco (actually "Frymasta" but same thing) and bees wax. i then add a little bit of olive oil, about a teaspoon or so depending on how much you make, just to soften it up a little.
I was going to give bore butter a go but for the cost of about 2 tubes of that ive got a...
The big lube website is weird. You need to go to the home page and go from there.
I've got a big lube press and is pretty awesome. He even made up a larger pin and rod so I could load my Walker with it.
Being Pedersoli you'd probably have to find out who your nearest distributor is and order one in from Italy. When i ordered my Harpers Ferry it took about 2 months to arrive iirc.
I would say its almost all shooter and load development when it comes to BP accuracy. My old Armsport 1858 could...
I like VTI Gunparts website because of the exploded view they have to show parts.

I'm one of those Aussies that bought a Chinese made 1887. It needed a fair bit of work to get it to cycle and eject properly, but ive still got it in the safe. Ive even used it a couple of times in cowboy action shooting with some BP loads.
There is also an engineering place over here that make...
dont use plastic wads with bp. as you have found out, they melt and leave a mess.
For wads on my shotgun shells i just use a few layers of waxed cardboard and a 3/4 inch wad punch...
I hope im thinking of the right part, but mine can just be pushed out with a bit of pressure with my thumb? just need to push it in so the ball presses in, then it should slide out.
how fine it is depends on the brand. polenta = cornmeal.
Yep. i use it in my revolvers and even my single shots.
I tried cream of wheat (semolina) and found it to be too fine and made more of a mess than the polenta.
Cap and ball revolvers can be just as accurate as cartridge guns. This is from my unmodified Uberti Walker at 50m off a bag (almost 55 yards). Each ring is 1 inch.
I dont use wads at all, i use over ball grease which is just some vege fat and bees wax melted together. I use a filler to take...
I use two flasks. one with bp and another with polenta/corn meal.
filler is also good for taking up space in the cylinder in light loads where seating it with the rammer won't seat the ball on the powder.
Argh too slow.... mine is exactly like the one on the right.
It does like to do this tho!
Am i reading right that you are using 50gr of FFg and 30gr filler? The Pedersoli manual lists 40gr max with a .575 round ball...
