    Does Anyone Shoot Pumps Anymore???

I use a pump for everything from clays to all hunting except turkey and ducks mainly because of the higher shot weight and recoil.

    Pics of Tactical/Defensive Shotguns

Cuttin down an a5 like that should be a crime. Get a good fittin shouldering gun and learn to shoot well with it. Don't worry if it's painted black if it was the same as you saw out of a video game. It's the same shell regardless of the gun it came out of. Contrary to why I seem to see very one...

    Scope options Winchester 94

My friend and I are looking for a solution in mounting a scope to his Winchester 94 to be used for hunting. The problem is it is a top ejection gun and additionally holds family value and am not looking to drill the receiver. Are there any options out there? Possibly a scout style scope setup...

    20 Ga. Waterfowl Round

What size/type/make of shot do you recomend for shooting over decoys at about 30 yrds. Shooting smaller ducks no mallards or geese, currently shooting 3" steel #4 and am not seeing the best results. I cant tell if I'm not getting enough range for birds on the outter limits of my effective range...

    Does This Scope Look Crooked?

try putting a level on top, even a cheap one for home improvement should work no real good way to tell from the phot that i can see. As long as it doesnt bother you and isnt drastically off it should be fine.

    De-Tacticalizing Your Shotgun

"Because 18.5" barrels with mag extensions suck for trying to hit anything that is moving, especially a small flying disc moving at great speed" But they look so cool when your with your buddies shooting paper target from 10 yards at the handgun range and talking about how your going to...

    Coyote/Deer caliber?

Out of what you said you were looking for a .270 is the best choice. You will find it just about anywhere, plenty of knockdown power for deer, extremely accurate at long ranges (I've shot ground squirrels that have been annoying me deer hunting on my way out from accross a field (~160 yrds) and...

    Does anyone else recover bullets?

I always try to collect them, or at the very least study the bullets impact on the animal as I process it. As a hunter I have learned even more about shot placement and the effects on the target animal through following a wound channel and (hopefully) finding the bullet. Also just like a gun...

    Another first shotgun question

I will echo the thoughts of a Browning BPS and Ithaca, as they are essentially the same design. I have an older BPS from 85 in 20 ga that is my go to for everything from turkey and ducks to small game and keep a few rounds of #3 buck for the house. I bought the gun as a field gun and it has...

    Deer gun for the wife

I have a savage 110 in .270 which I would recomend that rifle if she was interested in a bolt action seems to meet all the criteria. However I think a Marlin 336 in 30-30 is the best and meets all of the criteria perfectly.

Help me select Rifles for me and wife.

Agreed on the 30-30, I hunt here in SC as well and started with a 270. I quickly realized that its simply more than you need for here. I cant speak for where you hunt but I find myslef in the brush much more than over any fields, and have yet to find a situation where there has even been a shot...

Stevens Model 940 20g Single shot Dissasembly Help?

I know many single shotguns break down by pulling the front of the forarm grip down, it will pop off (my older one needed alot of muscle to do it the first time) after that the barel unhooks and it should be straightforward from there.

    Feral Hog's

As often times you are restricted to only use the weapons for what game is in season, which in small game season is rimfires. Since a hog is not classified as a game animal in many places it is nott illegal to shoot them with these calibers. Here I know many people that have killed hogs with a...

Foolish to go hog hunting with a single-shot rifle?

Had a questiona about what to use for hog hunting and this appeared to be the best thread. I will be hunting hogs in the brush, more than likely at close range. I have either a 20 gauge pump shotgun or a .270 win bolt action. Which would be better to use, slugs out of the shotgun, or either 130...

    BPS Trigger

I was cleaning my Browning BPS 20 ga. the other day and ran into a problem reassembling it. I've done this many times and know how to put it together however this time I encountered a problem putting the trigger assembly back in. It is stuck half way in the front part is in but the back will not...

    First Shotgun

Just as an update, I went with the BPS 20 ga. It felt a little more solid, I thought the finish was much better, and that a 20 gauge was plenty for most of what the gun will be used for. I took it to the range and it cycles very smoothly, I was impressed. Now I just can't wait for small game...

    Sticky Bolt

For some unknown reason I keep my old brass even though I don't reload and noticed a slightly darker band on the back 1/4 in or so of it. This seemed to be on all the brass and more noticable on 150 gr brass. Also I have had issues with it extracting like this with an unfired round and a cold...

    Sticky Bolt

This has been occuring for awhile now and is not new. I am using factory Rmington Core-Lokts, or Federal Power Shoks. I feel that some of the time if it cools it helps but still is very difficult to open. The chamber is smooth and clean along with the entire action. It also seems to open easier...
